This was a different article. They actually quoted sections from Williams' books. Whether the journalist twisted the figures, I don't know; but it seems clear the team is losing a lot of money.

In terms of manufacturers, Toyota still has cash to spend but for how long is debatable. Renault & Fiat (Ferrari) don't have the exposure to the US market that has so damaged Honda & may do the same to Toyota. Which leaves Merc & BMW. Both BMW & Merc's sales are down & as luxury cars take more of a hit in times like this both companies will find the going hard. However as has been pointed out here Merc don't own McLaren so the team could carry on with Cosworth motors etc. Which leaves BMW's team hanging by a thread. Ok, they have sponsors, unlike Honda so it should be easier but at a time that they are being forced to shut down production of even the Mini if anybody is the next 1 out it's them.

Norbet Haug has said Mercedes budget is not compareable to other car manufacturers as they do not own McLaren 100% so do not foot 100% of the bill. so they wont be in trouble

A middle eastern company has also a 30% stake in McLaren as well. Those guys don't tend to be too poor. TAG and Ron Dennis each hold 15%. TAG is a decent outfit, and Ron Dennis has a person fortune of about £100 million that we know of, and would pump a lot of that into the team if it were needed. Compared to a lot of teams, McLaren are in a stronger position than most.
