sorry to say but I believe the medal system could be good for the sport. The effect it will have on the drivers mentality and the results will make for an interesting year ahead!

What about teams that only can manage a 4th at best? whats in it for the drivers there.

Just to question, do the drivers not push for wins now. The only time they don't push, is when they know for sure they can't win. Even if the medal system was brought in, I honestly don't think they drivers would push harder. After about the 2 pit stop they'll realize I can't win, so really, is there even a point in me pushing at all.

Also, it means that teams in the lower positions have no reason at all to push. Drivers coming through the field, know they're not going to get anything for their efforts.

I'm not. There's are lot more excitement if teams that are not always able to get a podium are also in the run for the championship. And also more excitement if someone can win the championship if he is able to finish in a certain position..... if they want to cost cuts by getting rid of trophies, then whatever... but i doubt the dirvers will be more motivated if they have medals rather than trophies; besides for the championship's sake all that needs to be done is rearrange the pts system. And maybe give an extra pt for pole position (IF they ban refueling and everyone Qs on equal loads).

This is true, infact it could work backwords a podium will become more valuble since if say Lewis is P1 and Massa P2 and massa pushes f***s it up and puts it in a wall lewis is a whole gold medal ahead rather than half a gold (silver) which could count for alot later on

how is the money going to get shared out if there is only medals? isn't it the top 9 teams get some cash. what if only 3 or 4 teams get medals?

they will still get points for the drivers for the constructor side of things in Weekend at Bernies idea.
