In the era of cost cutting how is running a 3rd car saving money? This will cost the team way more than running two cars. I don't think Renault will like that particularly and that could make them head for the exit.

running 3 cars is not about saving money, it is about something in the rules (I am sure someone knows where exactally) that says if the field falls below a certain number of cars then team are to run 3 cars instead of 2.
