Just a quick bump, but the 1999 season demo has been released. :)

Indeed, just the Jordan at the moment with some dodgy physics but the external engine noises are BRILLIANT!! Much better than those crappy ones CTDP made for the 2005 mod, I've put the 1999 external engine sounds into the 2005 mod and it sounds much better.

I've spent the day throwing the spanner around trying to get a good set up for the 1988 Jacarepagua circuit for the 2005 mod and it is such a tough circuit with lots of fast corners in quick succession and the track itself is quite narrow with large kerbs that don't leave you much room. High aerodynamics are required and the track is extremely tough on tyres. Also you need to get the anti-rollbar, camber and differential settings just right so that you don't go running wide, flying off on a fast corner but at the same time getting good speed down the long Juncao straight along the grandstands paced full of loyal Brazillians who came to watch Senna. (look at me, I'm starting to sound like Sam Michael in a race preview on the Williams website )

In the end I just downloaded a Catalunya-wn setup and edited it. My best time in the Williams FW27 is a 1:22.646 on a full race set up with hard tyres on but just 7 laps worth of fuel in. So now I feel quite satisfied. :)

Funnily enough I managed to set up the FSONE 2007 Williams much more easily and set a 1:23 with qualifying set up, but then again that's partly thanks to the FW29's default setup being much more closer to the set up I wanted than the FW27.

Well I'm looking to enter a GP2 mod league and they're quite short on seats too so if anybody wants to join up here;s the link to the league's forum.

The mod they use is downloadable from there.

See you out on track! :)

So, after delays, refunds, complaints and confusion...

My steering wheel should be here at some point this week. So, if anybody's up for a race at any point, just say so :)

Great :)

I still have most of the tracks and mods that I listed earlier in the thread. Certainly all the important ones (CTDP 2005, F1 1988, GP 1979 etc.) so I'm happy to race with any of those once I get a couple of hours of experience in with the wheel. I think the 1979 will be a lot more fun than when I had the Xbox controller, since I went for a wheel with a clutch pedal and H-pattern shifter. Just need to install that and the Nordschliefe track and the fun will begin... :D

Which Nordschleife are you installing? There's quite a few of them knocking around. :P

I don't have any of them downloaded yet, but there was one I had a while back that had various configurations and then dry, wet and snowy versions of each, so I'll probably try to find that again. :)

So, there's disappointment. The only track that I can get within a couple of seconds of the pace is Bahrain. Everywhere else I'm about eight away from it. I think I need a lot of practice. :hehe:

Is that from the AI or the official lap records?

Both >.<

I guess you could say, in some ways, I'm like Massa. Just not the fast, pole-grabbing way. :(

Issues I have (which are probably from not actually being a driver of any kind of vehicle) are not being able to pick braking points, not knowing how much/little pressure to apply to the brake pedal and for how long, not having confidence when the car will turn the corner at that speed, or being confident that the car will turn the corner when really I'll just end up in the gravel. The latter is somewhat amusing. I'm pretty sure I've torn off more front wings than Sakon Yamamoto! :hehe:

I mean, my best lap time for Suzuka, which is actually one of the tracks I'm better at (but that doesn't mean anywhere near good) is 1:44 :/

It sounds like you could use a few driver aids to start with. And braking wise in an F1 car you should usually break around the 100 metre board. :)

Okay, so at 100m.

Now I just have to figure out how to go about braking without ending up either in the wall or facing the other way. I've taken a liking to invulnerability, by the way >.<

I'm sure a lot of practice is necessary and I'll get there somehow. :)

I used to play it with the wired Xbox 360 controller before the steering wheel arrived. It took a little time to get used to, but I was able to drive around with it. With the same bad results as I have now, actually, but I think that's user-error :hehe:
