Because I can't help but think about Ferrari and F1 everyday, I was looking at some facts. From an accurate site of course. Ferrari won 15 races in both 2002 and 2004. Previously I remembered this only for 2002 and thought 2004 that Ferrari had one less win. But in actual fact it was 15 wins in both season. McLaren did this in 1988 and only ever in that year. So Ferrari achieved thsi feat twice so as always Ferrari always does one better than McLaren.

Yeah but there were only 16 races in 1988, which gave McLaren a win percentage of 93.75, while in 2002 there were 17 races, in 2004 18, so that gives Ferrari win percentages of 88.24 and 83.33. Close but no cigar... (The other crucial difference was that with Senna and Prost 1988 was at least a competitive championship, but this is about cars not drivers.) However, you have to say that a five-year win percentage of 67.06 between 2000 and 2004 is a phenomenal record that will possibly never be beaten.

Also AKR, you could point to 1952 where Ferrari won every race (except the Indy 500 obviously), and Alfa Romeo achieved the same in 1950.

That percentage thing, I do not buy. Ferrari has the record tied with McLaren on 15 wins in a season, except Ferrari has done it twice. There are no records McLaren has more than Ferrari. None whatsoever. And I agree with this part that you wrote. "However, you have to say that a five-year win percentage of 67.06 between 2000 and 2004 is a phenomenal record that will possibly never be beaten." You got that right. It won't be beaten as won't be Michael Schumacher's 7 WDC titles. :D

Sorry but while I respect the achievement of winning 15 races in a year, if you only fail to win one race it's a greater achievement than if you fail to win two or three races. Ferrari had more opportunity to win 15 races, so it's easier, therefore not (quite) as great an achievement.

if there were more races in 88 they would have won them too AKR so the percentage thing is the best way to see how dominant you are in one season

how about this, they won all but one, has Ferrari done that?

Can I also point out, Ferrari never took part in CanAm, let alone won, have never won the Indy 500, and didn't win the Le Mans 24 hours on their debut. So there are some records that Mclaren have that Ferrari simply can't touch. Now if you're talking just about F1... Then I look forward to the day Ferrari is fined more than $100,000,000!!!

You just can't pick and choose when you want to accept records. The F2002 and F2004 were both great cars, but the MP4/4 was greater still. The F2002 and F2004 were pretty safe options. Byrne designed a car that was reliable and had a the right blend of existing technologies (compared to a Newey-designed car which has a lot of innovation at the expense of reliability). At times, it looked as the F2002 and F2004 were beatable. The MP4/4, however, had a number of very crafty innovations and looked unbeatable. The only reason it didn't win all the races that was season, was because of that punk Jean-Louis Schlesser took Senna out of the Italian Grand Prix. Deal with it, Kiki.

I have watched races from the 1988 season. Recorded of course as you know how old I was then so could never of watched them live. The races after Italy where Ferrari won, Ferrari could of won at least 2 more races. They were beating McLaren in 2 of them. I can't remember which races they were but it was happening. Reliabilty stuffed Ferrari up and handed the wins to McLaren. Although this is no excuse, the matter was that that McLaren car of 1988 was beatable on more than one occasion. Just like the F2002 and F2004 were on some occasions. Also I don't care if there were more races in 2002 and 2004. That can sometimes work against you. In 2004 Ferrari didn't win the last race. If there were one race less then Ferrari's percentage would go up. Also in 1988 what of there were 17 races instead of 16. If McLaren didn't win that as it was possible since Ferrari did get quicker (but less reliable) towards the end of that year, then their percentage will go down. Your reasoning is total bollacks. This record is held equal to both McLaren and Ferrari, except Ferrari have done it twice. Also if you check any list of F1 records, which also state that Ferrari very much own them all, this particular one will show that McLaren and Ferrari have it tied. None of this percentage bollacks is ever mentioned. This is just an unfair attempt for you McLarenites to try and pip Ferrari on this record and you all know it.

Ferrari will never get fined $100,000,000. If that happened Ferrari will say bye, bye and then that will also mean bye, bye F1. :D About CanA< and Indy 500 and LeMan 24 hours, so what if Ferrari didn't take part. This is about F1 so why even mention them. Ferrari have won IMSA before as well and McLaren have not. But do you see me mentioning IMSA? Ferrari are the greatest in F1. In other motorsport they are not, I know that and I don't even pretend they are. But I can still be proud to say that Lancia are the greatest in WRC (even after not being there since 1993) and Ford, Porsche and Alfa Romeo are great in many other motorsports so I'll be happy with that. Even going back to Ford and Porsche, some of McLaren's race and championship titles were powered by Ford and Porsche................................... err we won 4 times in a row powered by Honda.

even so since 1969 Ferrari have been powered by FIAT

Ferrari have had more Years in F1 than Mclaren so they bound to have a better record

Mclaren have archived more than Ferrari in the 10 years less they have had.

What are you talking about. This decade alone Ferrari have achieved more than what McLaren ever had and will. Between 2000 and 2004 Ferrari were untouchable. Ferrari did better than McLaren in 2006 and only were bettered by Renault whom are ok and once again Ferrari won everything rightfully in 2007. In 2008 Ferrari again wins the constructors. All McLaren amanged to do in 10 or so years is win a drivers title this year and one that will probably not be repeated in a long time. McLaren compare to Ferrari? Ha, what an absoulute joke! Fact is nothing is as great and nothing can compare to Ferrari. Ferrari is like a god in motorracing. Everyone with half a brain knows to desire them and how great they are. McLaren well they might have made a few good race cars over the years, but your average Nissan or Toyota has more to them than McLaren. Gee at least a car like the Nissan GT-R is a full Nissan. And a good one too. What the hell is a McLaren. At the moment it has a Mercedes Engine. Their once off road car had a BMW engine. In the past their race cars have been powered by Peageot, Ford, Honda, Porsche and even Alfa Romeo. Who the hell are McLaren compared to Ferrari. Total trash if you ask me.
