In my opinion the bt52 has to be one of the best looking. Plus it was a championship winning car!
Plus if memory serves, I think it was the first engine to produce 1hp per 1cc. So 1500bhp from the 1.5l engine for qualifying!

Well, it would have been fast, but FISA banned it before it could race, despite it being totally likely. I think they and some other teams complained it had moveable aerodynamic advices. As we all know, that's the excuse of choice when the FIA et al. want something banned. :rolleyes:

I have a soft-spot for this car, it was again not the best car Williams built, but it was quite smooth, bold and was the last car built in the Williams BMW partnership.

It never got chance to race, just 1 practice session and Balestre banned it.

If Chapman was still alive and he did that today Mad Max would have Lotus banned from F1 just for building the car and stating their intentions to race it.

Wow thats interesting, I got to do more research on it, I've never even heard of/seen that car. From what I've read of Balestre, I'm not surprised he banned it.

Mclaren Mp4/4

It won 15 of the 1988 seasons 16 races!

10 of them were Mclaren 1-2's

as it says in the article about it in this months F1 racing "this car didn't merely dominate it obliterated the opposition"

I loved the William's-BMW F1 cars, and I cant believe I didnt think of them!! I didnt like it when they made the Walrus nose though.

Balestre was a bar steward. Ferrari completely had FISA and the FIA under its thumb after the FISA-FOCA War, and Balestre also favoured anything that was French. Typically, that meant Alain Prost and Renault. Formula One has always been corrupt. It's not a recent thing.

Oh, and then there's the Vanwalls. Best shade of British Racing Green ever in my opinion. If you've ever been to the Donington Museum you'll know what I mean.

Yeah the FIA just seams to push futher and futher to see what they can get away with.

they want innovation but not if it f***s up Ferrari.
