Don't underestimate Rosberg, yes the FW30 was a pile of garbage but when it worked he was up amongst the front runners. Remember his Q2 time at Monaco when he was slower than Massa by a tenth of a second. And it did prove to be a quick car in low downforce setup so that bodes well for next year.

True enough. I came acrosss a little harsher than intended. He's like Vettel. Got all the skills to succeed but we'll never know if he has the mental toughness to do it until he has the car under him.

So much talent around at the moment though. Hope it means we're in for a hell of a decade.

Hamilton: maybe a 2 times champion

People love to hate on Hamilton, and I'm tired of all the crap following the close of the Brazilian GP, but it's undeniable that Hamilton is a fantastic driver, and this season was actually his poorer season. He performed a lot better last year, scoring 109 points for 2007 (versus just 98 for 2008), and just one point shy of Kimi Räikkönen for WDC. He really could have done it last season and only so narrowly missed being WDC for his Formula One debut. So long as Hamilton is driving either a McLaren or a Ferrari, I see no reason why Hamilton couldn't pull off a second championship win, and maybe a third and fourth if he keeps at it, especially if he learns from his mistakes this season.

And further, Hamilton shouldn't have just narrowly won this year. Yes, both him and Massa lossed a lot of potential points from a blown engine (Massa), a blown tire (Hamilton), pit crew blunders (Massa), driver blunders (Hamilton), and a shameful run at Silverstone (Massa), but the FiA's penalty handed to Hamilton after Spa was contested by fans all across the board, even by Ferrari fans, and even by several drivers, and had that penalty not been handed down then Hamilton would have went into Brazil not with a seven point lead but a thirteen-point lead (as the penalty took four points from Hamilton and gave two points to Massa), and Hamilton would have locked up the championship before even going into Brazil, entering with 98 points to just 85 points for Massa. Further still, had Hamilton enjoyed the luxury of such a spread going into Brazil, he may not have driven as conservatively and perhaps finished in a higher position than just fifth.

Anyway, long story short, Hamilton should be a strong contender for the years ahead. I see no reason for this to be his only WDC.

I'll stick my head on the line and try and predict how many each of those drivers will win by the end of their career.

Hamilton - 4 more, added to the one he already has.
Raikkonen - no more, will finish with just the 1.
Alonso - 2 more, added to the two he already has.
Kubica - two
Vettel - three
Massa - none
Rosberg - none

I'd also like to see Sutil in a winning car. He has the potential to challenge for the world title

Vettel and Kubica have the best chance I think to win in the next 2 years.!

Unfortunately, I don't think Vettel will get it in the next 2 years, but only because he'll be in a Red Bull. I just can't see them being in contention for the title, however much I'd like them to be! It'd be AWESOME if he did end up competing for the WDC in a Red Bull, though :D I've got my fingers crossed!

As for who won't get the WDC... hmm. I don't really want to say any of them. Get any of the guys in a good car and I think they have a shot. And who knows what cars they'll end up driving in the future?

Honestly, I think that Alonso could be the one that doesn't. If Renault don't improve and there isn't an opening at Ferrari or BMW Sauber for him, then he might find himself not quite being able to do it. Having said that, imagine if the R28 was as good as it was at the end of the season all the way through? He could've won the WDC in that.

I dont think Massa will ever be as strong as he was this season again so i dont see him winning one.
Vettel is an amazing talent and it would be stupid to rule him out of a title if he can win with a team that until this season was branded as a back marker.

I still think that given the right car, Button could mount a serious challenge.

I think Red Bull could definitely have a title winning car in 2010. They have got Newey and stack loads of cash. Adrian's designs haven't been working well in the Red Bull but he is a top engineer and you just don't lose that kind of ability just because you are in a different team. I believe he will come good and give the Red Bull team a good car. Anyway Vettel might be in the Ferrari in 2010...

Ok, good point! Like I said, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed :D

I sort of hope he doesn't end up in a Ferrari though... I'd rather see him in BMW. Just because I'm a little anti-Ferrari ever since the Schumacher / Hakkinen fights for the title LOL. Also because Ferrari will corrupt him :hehe:

Good point! Vettel is a care free enthusiastic driver but at Ferrari he will turn into the dull monotone Kimi Raikkonen

I think Vettel would be smiling even if he finished 20th on every race, he just seems to be that kind of person who cant help but smile.

That's a strange logic

I don't think Kubica will to be honest...his first half of the season was great, but the last few races he hasn't really done anything at all.
I think i would put Nick Heidfeld in the list of possibilities though, he's the dark horse i think...he's doing well but its almost secretly!

Ferrari didn't do that to Kimi, he's always been dour (in a very cool way).
