The ITV coverage was acceptable or good in all areas, other than the adverts. Unfortunately the adverts counterweigh everything that was good, and then some.

I'd agree with that. ITV did put a lot more effort into the broadcast than the Beeb ever did, and I think they're due some credit for increasing the sports popularity. But the adverts are a pain, and james allen might be a knowledgable guy, but he should stick to written journalism.

The only downside is that I used to speed clean the house during the ad breaks.

I've had some criticisms of ITV over the years, but in the last 6 laps of that race Brundle and Allen (yes, Allen) were absolutely spot on. I've just watched it back and their commentary is pretty much as good as it could have been in such tense circumstances at describing what the situation is and what factors were in play. Brundle was saying almost as soon as Hamilton had pitted that Glock was the key man. I think everyone was not quite 100% sure of what had happened in the last few seconds, but Brundle's "YES!" as Hamilton crossed the line and HAM popped up on the screen made it plain and simple.

Just as well Murray Walker wasn't commentating actually - I think we might have had the first on-air heart attack!!!

I think ITV's coverage - especially till about 2003 wasn't bad at all. It was first rate.
Probably the best in the world - maybe still is.
But the ad breaks were always going to let them down, and sadly with falling advertising revenue we seen the quality of the show be cut back - just a little.

Allen did redeem himself in the last part of the season. He said he is still going to be in the F1 media next year - I wonder what as?
The ITV montage video was pretty amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWsHRQ9J7Eg view here.

BBC have alot of work to do.

I cant open it as im at work. Is that the MCR montage? That was bloody awfull and cringing.. who chose that?

It is - and I dno why it isn't working.

I thought it was quite funny. Even though some of it was dodgy - like Steve and Lewis.

It's goodbye for me, I think it will be a case of we don't realise what we've got til it's gone. The BBC will probably take a year or 2 to get up to ITVs standard. I really enjoyed ITVs coverage, hell even James Allen grew on me!

There was a series of gay love duets in there and confused latina girls. Rubiniho was well into it though

Ted Cravitz (Idiot)

first you pull a union jack out in front of the Brazillian croud.. :banghead:

then you pressure LH to talk to you once he finnished the race only to get pushed away by lewis him self :hehe:

I can't believe ted did that. I know it was his last race but that is no excuse to act like a total moron.

You gotta admit Ted Kravitz had some right balls to go into the Brazillian crowd with a Union Jack.

What was it he said? "It's my last race anyway!" It could have his last few seconds alive! :hehe:

That was quality. It was the best thing he has said all season!

It's the best thing he's done since choosing Alex Wurz to be asked "what he thinks of when he sees Nick Heidfeld" and Wurz coming out with the classic "I think he should shave." line. :D

I am glad it is going to the BBC. No adverts and no James Allen. I wanted to punch James Allen today, it sounded like he was willing a problem on Lewis. Even my 2 year old daughter said "he's a silly man."

You can't really go wrong on the BBC. The race coverage is the same and I rarely take much notice of the build-up. I can make my own mind up about that. Whoever does the commentary doesn't bother me too really. Nobody can be as bad as James Allen. I will be glad of the lack of adverts too. I always turn over to Radio 5 when they are on as I am terrified of missing something.

The good thing nowadays is that so many people have the internet, so a decent build up and analysis is not as important as it used to be a few years ago. That's not to say they are now obsolete, for ITV have done some good features in their build-ups, but, if asked, I'd take no breaks over a half-decent build up.

I have always thought the race BUILD UP has been very good, but just James Allen, Steve Rider (after the race) and the Hamilton obsession a let down. Brundle was always very good.
