I really hope that they keep this angle for '09 and onwards. I think it was absolutely awesome, and kind of wonder why they haven't done this before. Just wondered if you guys thought the same?

Also, congratulations to Hamilton. He totally deserved the Championship this year. I just can't wait until 2009! Its going to be a cracker!

It was pretty good, i just wished he would have lasted longer that the first corner, i was absoloutly gutted for DC, all the best in the future.

I think it's a good idea, but it's not perfect. You can't see the track in front.

its a wonder why they havent done it before, its not like its new technology! they had it in champ car although that was from inside the helmet through the visor 8-)

Yeah, the fact you can't see much of the track is a bit rubbish. But I'm sure it wouldn't take much for them to place it slightly above the visor.

I've been wearing a side-mount camera for skydiving for years now. Perfect eye-level view, if a little to one side, but hardly cutting edge technology!

Arai was worried about the structural integrity of the helmet when a camera was to be inserted. They figured it out eventually, but at the wrong place! They should talk to Apple with their tiny built-in cameras! :hehe:

Yep, nice idea, poorly executed. Needs some tinkering and if it's doable to position the camera in a better area and not muck up the driver's comfort or safety then look forward to it. You could watch the entire race from your favourite driver's perspective.

what a shame, would of been cool to see more. maybe next year they could install on all the drivers helmets?

I loved that camera view it showed how little the drivers can see although it needs tinkering it still showed pretty much the driver's line of vision. Hopefully they have this camera next year that would be brilliant.

The big issue was safety regulations. With the built in camera, the helmet still has to have full impact safety protection. And it can't add any drag... so no skydiving helmet cams.

They said it was difficult to even get it by his mouth where it was now... although a forehead level cam would be much better, it would really give a nearly perfect view of the track as if through their eyes.

Looked like more of a chin cam, not sure if any of the drivers next year'll have a substantial enough chin for the job. Maybe Kubica can come up with some way of providing a better viewpoint.
