Not everyone in Spain is racist I've met some very nice people there and there are people that do actually support Hamilton.

Nobody's saying that every Spaniard is racist, but a relatively large proportion of them are, and the Spanish government has done nothing to try and change the attitudes of some of its citizens. Instead, it buries its head in the sand. It's time they faced up to reality and tried to combat the situation.

To be honest, this doesnt surprise me. Spain has always been racist going all the way back to that Cortez dude conquering the Aztecs. I'm not saying all Spaniards are racist, but they have a heavy history of racism and the vast majority of them are racist.

I feel very sorry for the vast majority of Spaniards, particularly those who follow F1, that might feel tarnished by these idiots.

There's racism in every country, people of all nations/races/creeds are a product of their environment. By that I largely mean their family upbringing. Prejudices are passed down etc. Do I think, in my limited knowledge, that Spain is a more racist country in everyday terms? No I don't personally. However, until all round condemnation occurs, not trying to suggest Spanish posters on here will try and explain or justify this out of a misplaced sense of self defence, whenever this happens and real action is taken, it will keep happening.

It happens everyday in every nation on Earth. Just google some articles, pick a country - there'll be dozens of examples. The acceptance, justification or downplay of it of it is something that must not be allowed to continue though. In any country. Let's hope the owners (preferably) take the site down, whether the original intention was innocent or not.

I do agree with you, but Spain is known for there racism. Remember that picture the Spanish basketball team took during the olympics?

Racism sadly, happens everyday all over the world like you said. Just 2 days ago I read on the internet that a group of skinheads were plotting to assasinate Barack Obama.

Political correctness has ensured that people are scared about talking about many issues, and racism is one of these issues. When somebody makes a remark on the matter, they are forced into prefacing it with a remark such as, not all Spaniards are racist etc.. I, however, prefer to call a spade precisely what it is: a spade. Spain, perhaps more than any other European country, has a racism problem. Its government has done nothing to sort out this out. If money was not such a big consideration in Formula One, primarily to Ecclestone, Spain would have been sanctioned for these deplorable incidents.

Aye - mongs everywhere. I'm only having a somewhat educated guess on personal experience etc. Maybe Spain might have a slightly larger minority who hold racist views than other countries. Or maybe they have about the same number who aren't as apprehensive as those in other countries to share their opinions. As you know if you did the "Hamilton Family" thing in North America, UK and some other European countries - you'd probably be get the snot beaten out of you by other spectators. Forget about the "authoritahs". Hell, I'm not even saying it done out of hatred. Most of it seems to be borne out of ignorance rather than a genuine hate. Doesn't make it any better though.

That is to say, the expression of those views in many countries are potentially damaging in more than one way. They certainly have them but they just can't do that kind of thing any more and get away with it virtually consequence free. Maybe that's the main difference. Like I said, not accusing the great majority of Spanish peeps but anyone trying to justify or downplay displays of racism through a misplaced sense of embarrassment are dead wrong and are unwittingly part of the problem.

I'm embarrassed by the fools who I occasionally see acting like racist knobs in London. Who wouldn't be? I tell them exactly what they can do with those opinions though - keep it to themselves. To let it go unchecked or try to find reason in it would be to condone it.

My two cents anyhoo.
