Hamilton will be champion if:
- He finishes fifth or higher
- He finishes sixth and Massa is second or lower
- He finishes seventh and Massa is second or lower
- He finishes eighth and Massa is third or lower
- He fails to score and Massa is third or lower

Massa will be champion if:
- He wins and Hamilton finishes sixth or lower
- He finishes second and Hamilton is eighth or lower

If the pair are tied on points at the end of Sunday afternoon (which would happen is Massa wins with Hamilton sixth, or if Massa finishes second with Hamilton eighth), Massa would win the title by virtue of more victories (six to Hamilton’s five) or more second-place finishes (three to Hamilton’s two).

In the constructors’ championship, Ferrari’s 11-point advantage over McLaren heading to Brazil puts them in a powerful position, while BMW Sauber’s 10-point deficit to McLaren means they still have an outside chance of stealing second place

I'd love to see an all-Brazilian podium, to be honest, though I doubt it would happen. You know who I'd want on top ;)

Rubens? :P

Nelson... >.>

<.<

Yeah, okay. You get the ten points. But for the result to look like this would be awesome:

Barrichello
Piquet
Massa
Bourdais
Vettel
Heidfeld
Rosberg
Nakajima

Of course, both Ferraris and McLarens would suffer engine failures at the end of lap one. The championship would be decided and all the other drivers could race without worrying that anything they do might have an effect on its outcome :)

How could FM be third in your scenario when both Ferraris suffer engine failures???

>.<

I can't even use the 'it was late' excuse - ten to six in the evening!

Really, though, I just wasn't thinking. Though, the FIA may have lent him a flatbed to carry his car around the track on.

But at least if all three of them scored points, I'd be happy :)

Realistically Massa should win the race. Lewis Hamilton the WDC and Ferrari the WCC. Although I am praying for Lewis Hamilton to botch it up again. :D:yes::thumbup:

I hope so too.

I think that Massa will win the WDC and the BMW's to strugle and the Torro Rosso's to be right up their with them.

I think BMW will finish strong. Kubica gets a new engine and gearbox. I think he gets a podium finish.

From Planet F1:

Wet weekend expected in Sao Paulo

Wednesday 29th October 2008

The weather could have a big say on where the World Championship ends up this season as wet conditions are expected in Sao Paulo over the weekend.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Felipe Massa will go head-to-head for the Drivers' Title on Sunday. Hamilton has the edge over local hero Massa as he takes a seven-point lead into the season finale.

Massa's task could be even tougher this weekend if the weather gods fail to play along. The Ferraris have struggled to make much of an impact during wet races while Hamilton relishes driving in the rain.

Showers are expected during qualifying on Saturday afternoon as well as during the race on Sunday and there are fears the demanding track could break down.

The FIA have already given Interlagos the green light, but tests have revealed that heavy rain could cause problems.

Race organisers therefore decided to make last-minute adjustments to the track and added grooves to parts of the surface to improve drainage.

As soon as ITV announce the rain's coming we will know it definately isn't coming. Rain was also predicted at last year's race but that too never came.

If it rains, i'm hoping for a repeat of the '03 race - that was pretty incredible! I wonder if they ever fixed that drainage problem at turn 3? I hope not. :hehe:

Not gonna be banking on rain. That's exactly what they said about Shanghai and then they got my hopes up.

Yep, as soon as Steve Rider and Mark Blundell start making out that it is definately coming, it never turns up. China, Singapore, Malaysia and Magny-Bores all come into the frame here, and oh how badly did China, Malaysia and Magny-Bores need that rain?
