With Richards' Prodrive getting the nod for 2008, the door for other teams seems all but closed for the time being. Which is a shame if you ask me. Why can't there be more than 12 teams? Sure, the paddocks might have to be expanded, which costs money (but money is rarely an issue when BE wants something to happen or not). Also, there could be some creative solutions for the problem: How about expanding the paddocks by just one or two team garages, BUT have a total of 16 teams, with the newbies being allowed to only run 1 car. Once such a team consistently beats most other minnows and also the slowest team(s) of the established 10, 11, or 12 teams, then they may move up and get to run 2 cars at the expense of the beaten established team.
What do you think?

The more teams the better IMO, and I have often wondered how it would work to have a privateer championship running within F1 to give them half a chance against the works teams.

I say bring it on, more the better. And they should abolish blue flags too.

Now it looks like the amount of teams are deteriorating.

I read somewhere about a rule that comes into effect if there are less than 18 or 20 cars on the grid - something to do with teams entering 3 cars or something. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I'm sure the FIA can.
But I can't help you there.

Have a mess about the the FIA website, where the stewards papers are displayed. It has its own forum topic.

I've heard about that as well somewhere hopefully we actually have enough teams left so they don't have to resort to that.

Do you still have your tongue and jaw, like Britney Spears in that South Park episode, or did you lose the entire thing? :bricks:

They used to have pre qualifying to weed out the amount of cars that exeeded 26. The remaining 26 participated in qualifying.

The administrators auctioned them off - i can't remember the site name but you could have purchased one of the cars yourself! That is, if you had the cash... :P
