I think he should just do what he normally does. Try and get as high on the grid as possible and don't worry if a car or two passes him at the start. He shouldn't start changing his routine in the last race of the season; that's inviting trouble. There's no point letting the Ferraris drive off if he's actually faster than them. The safest place to be is the front, and if Hamilton is safely in a podium position at the end of the first lap, barring mechanical failure I can't see him not winning the championship. It's all about the start.

What are the chances of LH being fuelled up heavily for qualifying and going longer in his first stint from the third, or maybe even second row if he canes it? I know he'll personally be loathed to do it and it might be a negative tactic which invites disaster in its own way but hey, he only needs to finish top 5. If he's behind Massa, KR and Alonso he can keep to himself, nurse the car around and come in top 4 or 5, maybe higher if others DNF?

It would also mean HK could show us his blistering race pace with a lighter fuel load.

a long sector is risky on tires best to stick to a simple 2 stops nicely spaced out.

True enough. Do what you normally do and let whatever happens happen. If you try and be fancy it might end up biting you in the backside.
