- 20 Oct 08, 14:48#74488I would be very surpised if Hammy didn't win the title this year. As surprised, I might add, as I was when he blew it completely last year. It is a fluke that a professional driver screws up two races in a row like Hammy did last year, and it would be an even bigger fluke if he screwed the pooch this year. I don't think it will happen personally. I believe he will win it. I am fairly certain that McLaren will fit his helmet with a shock collar and give him a few hundred volts every time he does something stupid (like try to pass Massa in a chicane when he doesn't have to). I would not be surprised at all to see a remote throttle cut fit to his car...just in case his over-enthusiasm gets the better of him. With that said, I expect Hammy to run a solid 3rd, not contested much...with HK cruising along behind waiting to crash into anyone who ventures near enough to break Hammies concentration and bring on his race ending red mist. If he is smart, he will not go for the pole as usual, probably not get it anyway since Massa owns that track...and then sit back and cruise to the finish, accept his title, declare himself king of england and master of all things wheeled, and then go back home to his x-box for the offseason.
If he battles for a win, and gets crashed out....he really is the dumbest driver in the paddock. However, I don't believe his team will allow it, even if he wishes to...someone in that team has to have a brain.
