Thinking about it, he's actually damn lucky they have those concrete run off areas everywhere now, otherwise the other guys wouldn't have so readily dove and off the track and out the way... then people wouldn't be trying to make out that it was a clean move.

I'd like to see slightly less run-off areas than there are, or those areas being 30% tarmac and then the next 70% gravel. That way, it's still safe but they are also penalised if they try to use them too much. That'd make far more people stay on track.

wait a sec... Lewis move was clean but then from that part its not done cause kimi was still there At the first turn lewis locks up his brakes and kimi had to got abit off the track. So i say its abit of lewis fault.

Can no one see the penalty for the move was the flatspot on his tyre ?? It's pretty simple why drivers don't generally make that move, and that's because the damage casued to the tyre forced him to pit.
Yes it was a mistake, and no he's not an idiot as many people have said, it was a split second decision in the heat of the moment, and didn't deserve a drive through.

...wow...overreaction??? someone is a little pissed off. but anyway, in regards to the op i don't think hamilton needed to make that risky move to get in front of the pack. at this point, i have little faith that massa can take it home to ferrari. if he can, thats great but i just dont see it in him. and honestly, we have all heard driver discussion on this first turn. does it really matter anymore? of course heikki will side with lewis, typically teammates side with one another so his opinion really doesn't add anything new to the table. the same goes the opposite way, of course kimi's opinion is going to say it was dangerous and should be penalized, their teams are in a very close fight for the constructors! the grid is divided on this subject lets leave it at that!

Yeah, I agree with that. Hamilton penalised himself, which is why I think the drive-through penalty was pretty harsh (although I can see why it was given).
