I went for STR. As much as I'd love for them to perform the same or better than they did this year I think Ferrari McLaren BMW and Renualt will b locking out the points next season with probably redbull being the closest challengers to the 4

Ferrari - relatively speaking. If they can't get their KERS sorted out, it'll be an uphill battle to stay with the top teams (BMW, McLaren, Renault, Red Bull in that order).

Also relatively speaking, Ferrari has FIA on its side...

If Ferrari win it this year and do crap next year, the FIA will probably help out BMW-Sauber so long as they are actually able to win races. I think Max Mosley has it more in for Lewis Hamilton and Ron Dennis rather than love Ferrari.

I have heard some teams don't think the benefit of KERS is worth all the potential effort - i wouldn't be surprised if them (and a couple of other teams) didn't bother with it next season, concentrating on other aspects of the car and negating the lack of KERS that way.

Unfortunately, I think it might be Toro Rosso. Just because the fact that they've been challenging drivers and cars that no-one was really expecting them to challenge will be a big incentive for the top-end teams to get their butts into gear and improve their cars.

Then again, I hope Toro Rosso can prove me wrong and improve their car as well. They've certainly got a lot of incentive to do so, if they want to say where they've been in qualifying and leaderboards this year.

I think some teams won't have enough money to even try to develop it, unless they buy a complete solution just like they're buying engines now. We still don't know how much of a performance gain does KERS give, so not having it installed in a car might not be a disadvantage actually.

that report about Ferraris KERS system was months ago, surely they have made some headway now?

Nope, it was just the other day when they stated that they're behind with KERS, that they put most resources in the current car for this championship. They need to make a deadline in January (some big group test) for the KERS or else...
