The whole reason I began to support Mclaren

I would agree with you there, that Mika was great, even if he was in the way of Ferrari winning their first drivers title in then 21 years. I remember in the German GP of 1999, not long after Silvertone where Schumacher broke his leg. I remember Mika just all of a sudden spinning off on one of those fast back straights and straight into a wall. I had my fingers in my mouth hoping he was ok. I was relieved when I saw him just walk out. McLaren driver or not he was great.

I remember watching his accident at Adelaide in 1995. With such violent movement of his head (no HANS devices back then) I was terrified he would die or never be the same again. Thanks to the actions of the doctors at the track and hospital, all the support he got from McLaren and has family, he was back racing again on several months later, which is a scary thought. He was a genuine team player for a McLaren as well. He could have left and perhaps have got a better deal elsewhere, but he helped rebuild McLaren. It looked as though he would never be champion, but thankfully McLaren were able to provide him with two titles, even though his ability deserved at least another one on top of that.

I like his comment "regulations are a bit flexible". I guess Mika knows the score!
He also knows what its like to make a mistake in a championship battle. I remember him crying in the woods at Monza when he'd crashed out. I felt so sorry for him and liked him all the more for that very human emotional reaction to his error
He was great and like Jackie is qualified to comment on Hamilton and mistakes made in his champioship battle. Those who havent been in that position, well - they can comment but Im not really interested in their views.
