Lewis to win but then two hours after the race get a retrospective penalty moving him to 9th. Penalty for getting of the line before a red car and overtaking another one.

Expecting and hoping Kimi to take the Hamerhoid out at turn 1 by breaking really late. If that doesnt work then ram him in the pits. If that fails then cut a chicane but let him by only to ram him out at the very next turn. After all, its racing.

Then... Alonso wins :) with Massa 2nd to go on and claim his 1st WDC at home.

Simple and very reasonable expectations i think.

Some were saying they could understand why Kubica was annoyed with BMW for ceasing work on this season's car. Personally, I can't. Fundamentally, this year's BMW was not as good as the McLaren or Ferrari and both of those would have bled them dry in the development aspect of things. Secondly, nobody could have predicted the number of mistakes the leading title contenders would have made this season. I can't ever remember a championship in which those vying for the title made so many gaffes. Although the season has been exciting, the standard of driving has not been the highest from those whom you expect to see high standards!

BMW were better than Mclaren in the 1st 4 - 5 races then better than Ferrari in the next 4 - 5 races. It was just about to turn BMWs way when they won in canada (could of won before then too) then they stoped development on 2008.

but they are a young team and hopefully there risk will prosper in 2009

BMW were better than McLaren in the first couple of races of the season, yes, but the MP4-23 had a couple of minor teething problems. I don't think they were ever better than Ferrari.

I hope the likes of BMW and Renault among others do improve next year and knock these 2 teams off their perch. For too long they have both acted as though the sport revolves around them.
This aint sport car racing when its Audi V Peugoet in LMP1.

There were a couple of races where the car was on terms with the Ferrari, but not better. Had BMW Sauber continued to develop their car, they could have at least snagged a few more podiums, although the job they've done with practically no development since Canada is spectacular. Let us hope that their efforts pay off and one of their drivers takes the WDC next year :)

You could also take the viewpoint that precisely because such gaffes can always happen in F1 (for examples in recent history one must only look at last season) that it would have been wise of BMW Sauber to continue to push development of their current car. Now it seems the train has left the station with almost everything there to be had - oh well, next year...

There are mistakes and there are mistakes. Hamilton is doing all he can not to win the title and the FIA are supporting him in this crusade, Massa has had some embarrassing performances this year as well, and Raikkonen and Kovalainen have been completely sub-par. In 2006 I had a dig at Alonso for letting the pressure get to him a bit, but it didn't affect his driving too much. What a difference a season or two makes.

If the FW31 isn't an understeering pig next year expect to see Nico up there too and a more confident Nakajima. Infact I'm going to place an early bet on Nico winning at Monaco next year because it's his favourite track and was just a tenth slower than Massa's fastest Q2 time.
