Yes, there is more to F1 than money, but I'm holding back my final judgement until it becomes clear whether or not the circuit had been paying its fees.

I read somewhere that they owed $10m, so there's no question about this. Your judgment?

If that's the case, then it's tough luck. They should either find a way to raise the money or else deal with it. If I don't keep up paying my rent, then I'll be kicked out of the house. Same principle, really.

yes but there paying rent for there own property.. yes they did still have about $10mill outstanding but the goverment were stepping in to pay it but i think bernie was just waiting for an excuse cos he would not talk with there Prime minister.

Why do they pay for the gp to go to there country it should be bernie paying them for the privilage to use the course?

same as silverstone the excuse of giving donnington the GP he thinks and is proberbly right it will not be ready in time so after 2009 no british GP .. look out the rest of Europe who`s next

First off: the government only NOW wants to step in and help, when the goose is already cooked.
All circuits have to pay BE - that's life. Why would it be different for Montreal? As long as there are countries out there that are willing to pay BE for a GP, then any non-payment by some circuit would logically result in dropping from the F1 calendar.

Indeed, but you would receive notice from your landlord telling you to pay up. The plug was pulled on the Canadian Grand Prix and the track officials found out about it through the media. Professionally done, Ecclestone.

Agreed! It was an act I'd expect from a slumlord - but what do I know, BE IS a slumlord, isn't he? :(
