i dont think massa should get a penalty, it would be a shame really

you also cant not give a penalty cause it would spoil the championship

well if their giving Massa one you have to give lewis one that how it works now isn`t it ...what a joke ... how do you give a penalty on the first bend when everyone is fighting for there bit of track... well that my rant over .... great drive by Alonso

Don't blame the FIA. Massa got a penalty as well. If they wanted to cheat they would of only penalised Lewis hamilton and Mass could of easily got as high as 3rd and be only 1 point behind Lewis Hamilton by now, plus Ferrari could of furthered their lead in the Constructors title.

They give him a penalty then give him an extra place for another mistake he made its a joke so in reality it is only hamilton who is penalised
maybe they had not sold out all the seats for the last few two races and so need it to go to the last race to keep the interest there.

Hardly. Whilst Massa did unfairly gain a second point, he was severely penalised for his incident with Hamilton. He set a string of laps in the 1:18 range, the only driver to break in to that range today. Had he not been given a penalty, he could quite easily have found himself up on the podium today, doing a lot more damage to Hamilton's title campaign.

Hamilton's driving at the start was scandalous. He could easily have collected several cars. He completely cut up Kovalainen and could have collected several cars. Yeah, he didn't hit anybody, but that is not the point. He could well have done so. I don't know what he was thinking. Massa's driving was sinful. He deliberately took out Hamilton and should count himself lucky he only got a drive-through penalty. His attempt to "overtake" Bourdais was also a farce and he passed Webber outside the track, so he must get a five or ten-place grid penalty next weekend.

I basically agree with all of this except the Massa being deliberate part.

Massa's move on Webber was silly and dangerous, and he definitely needs to be at least investigated for that if not penalized altogether.

Kimi says one (or two) of the McLaren's hit him and he incured damage in the front because of that. HAM gained a racing advantage from a mistake and a penalty was due. Unfortunately for him there really is no penalty with less impact than a drive-through, so the stewards didn't have a choice.

Whatever happened to "tough but fair?"

It WAS deliberate. Massa could have avoided the touch if he wanted to.

Anyway to me Lewis has already won the title, FIA trying to prevent it and they might, but that wouldn't change the champion in my mind.

in 10 or 20 years time it wont matter what is in your mind because when people read the stats of history all it will say who the winner was. :D

Yeah, it's possible. But it's impossible for us to know with 100% confidence (except if we see on board footage or telemetry), so I'd like to give Massa the benefit of the doubt on this one. He doesn't have a track record of doing something like this for track position before (though he's never been close to winning a champianship before, I'll grant) and he doesn't seem the overly aggressive type off track either. Though things can change in the heat of the moment, I'd rather err towards thinking it's a mistake over arguing that it was deliberate.
