Hi all,

I'm a long term F1 fan - started watching with my father back in the early 80's - and I've been a huge fan ever since. I've been to a few races round Europe. Namely Monaco, Spa and Monza plus the obligatory trips to Silverstone. Always gone on general admission tickets - next season I'm thinking of finally treating myself to a grandstand seat at a European race. The races I'm looking at are either Turkey or Nurburgring. Anyone have any advice as to which one to go to, where to sit and what to avoid? Turkey would seem the obvious choice but I'm worried about the heat...

Cheers

Welcome beard! Do you actually have one? :P

Since the Turkish GP is on the Asian side of Istanbul, it would be disqualified as a European race to treat yourself to a grandstand seat. Hence, Nürburgring it is!

I have it on good advice that tickets for Grandstand seats go for peanuts right before the race begins at the Nurburgring from touts (but it's a risk, no tickets, fake tickets, price fluctuations etc) - with our friends finding themselves sat at the end of the main straight, watching Hamilton et al sliding into the gravel (and being dragged back out) at the GP last season. I would imagine this would be the best area for spectating. I would also try and visit, even drive (hire car) the old 14 mile circuit - I believe it's around €20 (IIRC) for a single lap, with price breaks the more you buy. You can find more information on tickets, seating areas etc by following the link below. Let us know how you get on. :)
