Thanks everyone!

Wicked Tex! Who is he, any reason to think he would want to invest in a Scottish karter? :P

Only thing I know about him is the info I posted, he is a member of the Ferrari forum I am on. I have not the slightest idea if he would interested in helping you but it will not hurt to ask. Since your both UK based there is a chance, unless he says he is not interested, that a meeting could be setup. He is a racing guy such as you so anything is possible and worth persueing at this point.

He is currently in Mugello watching testing but I will get together some idea's and a format for what I will ask him. Remember this would be a business proposal so have you had a chance to get any of the sponsorship cost I had previously asked you for?

In return for sponsorship, I would be able to give you and your company:
• Kart bodywork graphics - How much?
• Race suit embroidery - How much?
• Van graphics - How much?
• Website advertising space - How much?
• Local / national newspaper articles - How much?
• I would be available for press conferences, media events and photo opportunities - How much and will your sponsorship entail travel/accomodation's cost or assistance?.

Although just setting a basic overall cost for everything would also work so you will need to decide on a price for the whole 'package', what it WOULD cost you to run the whole serie's next season? You see when you get into thing's like this it is very laborous and time consuming.

For the whole season, we will need about 10/15K to be competitive.

gregg, I don't think it's such a good idea to be throwing numbers at him until we know if he is interested or not. As you say, he is in the racing business so he will know what everything will cost etc.. No?

I wouldn't start firing numbers at him straight away, but, he probably will want to know a rough idea about how much you would be looking. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but sponsorship is a two-way thing: this guy will want to know what you have to offer him for his money; i.e. are you any good?, what kind of exposure is he going to get in return? etc. Talk up yourself and the championship- but be careful how you do it - and put a positive slant on things however bad they seem. For instance, your race the other day when you were too hasty in overtaking somebody. You would say something like you only finished 8th (or wherever, I can't remember the post), but I managed to overtake five people in an inferior kart on my first time on the track, showed great pace and have learned a lot from the experience, so I'll be a better driver next time round. Finally, I wouldn't worry about whether or you think this guy and others may be interested or not. What's the worst they can say? "No, thanks.", basically.

I just wanted to get an idea of what the entire season will run for MY info and incase that came up in our initial talk's if there are any. Remember Sam I have been in the sales/customer service side of business for over 20yr's and have learned a thing or two and I do not want to go asking this guy for money without having all my duck's in a row.

Also is that $10K/$15K in euro's, I assume it is?

It's most likely to be in Pounds Sterling - coin of the realm - than that Euro trash. :hehe:

Ahh, could you send me a PM or whatever just saying what you said to him, just so I know where we are. (And I'm nosey ;))

I sent him a PM asking him to contact me when he get's the chance, that is all I asked or said. Your not nosey mate hell it's your team and you should be kept aprised of all happenings and correspondence.

I'm just trying to make an initial contact first and then I will delve more into the request. He may not go for it BUT he may very well offer a few other contact's!
