From F1 Live:

A few dozen hours after Sebastian Vettel became F1's youngest ever winner, both of the German manufacturers involved in the sport have expressed interest in the 21-year-old.

BMW's interest is well known, after the carmaker supported Vettel through the ranks and gave him his F1 debut as a test driver.

"A year ago it wasn't possible to put him in our car, he was very inexperienced and you cannot gamble," said BMW-Sauber team boss Mario Theissen, who released Vettel to debut with Toro Rosso last year.

"It was much more important to give him the chance to develop in a team like this and he will do that for a few years and then we will see," Theissen added.

Also with a close eye on Germany's new F1 star is Norbert Haug, the boss of Mercedes-Benz's collaboration with McLaren, who reportedly made enquiries about Vettel's status last year when they were on the market to replace Fernando Alonso.

"Red Bull invested in Sebastian and now they are reaping the benefit," the German is quoted as saying by RTL.

I would love to see Vettel in a McLaren. It won't happen in the foreseeable future, but hopefully McLaren-Mercedes take suitable steps to lure him to the team.

"What happens eventually, you cannot tell now," Haug continued.
"Anyway, we would never have talks like that through the media. But it is the case that the best drivers always end up with the best teams."

There is no doubt that 2008 in general, and Monza specifically, have marked the beginning of a lucrative era for Vettel. Willi Weber, who brought the Schumacher brothers into F1, told Bild newspaper the 21-year-old youngster could be set to make 100 million euros in the next decade.

The Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell reports that, of the 20 race drivers, Vettel is currently the third-lowest earner, with a retainer of 600,000 euros -- behind Kazuki Nakajima (650,000).

Vettel's clearly a better driver than Kovalainen and definitely has more potential than Heidfeld, so I think he's good enough for a place at either of those two teams. I'd love to see how he matched up against Hamilton in the same car; possibly the two fastest drivers in the sport, seeing as Raikkonen can't do it consistently any more

Did BMW loan him for 2 years only?
He still has some contract with them?

If yes, than best for them would be to leave NH and RK next season, with SV coming next year to replace one of them.
Cheap option as well and I'm sure that they prefer put that money into develop then drivers wages.

Vettel will be Ferrari property. Keep driving Ferrari powered cars and that is where he will end up. Just like Massa did. Remember Massa raced for Sauber-Ferrari (Petronas). Now Red Bull is likely to get those Ferrari engines off Toro Rosso next year and ditch crappy Renault. And hopefully Vettel stays there for a few years and then in 2011 hopefully he goes to Ferrari and followers the winning way. McLaren can keep Heikki. He is crap and belongs in a crap team. Regarding Vettel, it is hands off McLaren!

McLaren wanted him for this season as 2nd choice afer Rosberg, I do not think Redbull want to give him up to be honest.

how long is his contract with Redbull for anyway?

AKR youre crap not Heikki

Heikki is the reason why Ferrari will win the constructors championship. Thank God you don't have Alonso anymore otherwise things would of been looking grim right now for Ferrari.. By the way Bud I am great just like Ferrari and Vettel. :hehe:

Vettel has done a great job this year but we will see how he does in next years Red bull- and you never know maybe redbull will become one of the big guns next year....

I hope they can get the Ferrari engine also.

its funny Newey was the one who wanted to get the Renault engine. it was said that he preferred the weight balance of the unit and he thought Ferrari wouldnt give Redbull the same spec engines as what Ferrari use.

actually if the appeal is won and the points are restored to what they really are and not the Ferrari International Assistance points scoring.
McLaren will be leading the constructors 133 to Ferrari 132 as well as the drivers Lewis 82 Felipe 75!

and lay off Heikki he has had alot of bad luck this year! people forget he is only in his second year as well and not every driver is on the same path to success! F1 is not easy!

Until 2011/2012. The next two year he's safe for RBR, so 2009 & 2010. The 2011 season then BMW can activate their clause and snatch him away from RBR. But if Ferrari are willing to lend RBR A-Spec engines there might be an incentive of increasing good relations with them in the attempt to bring in Vettel.
