Here is the extended version of the onboard. (not sure if someone else posted it yet)
Its awesome and just for entertainment value alone should not have been penalized.

Clicky for video

The Ferrari is so skiddish in the wet compared to the Mac.

This video is awesome!
I wish they would show more on-board footage on TV, although this also looks like it's been recorded off TV. Not the channel I have though.

The Ferrari is a bitch to drive in the wet. It's very poor under braking, handles horribly through a corner and its traction is terrible on exit. :yikes:

Mikey, do you have any vids like that of Heidfeld's last lap? I want to be inspired again by what racing was all about. :hehe:

It's probably been said before, but that's why Raikkonen couldn't get overtake all that quickly as Hamilton when he was being let past.

And that's really the crux of the matter. Does Hamilton have to actually make sure that Raikkonen passes, or simply make sure that Raikkonen has the opportunity to pass? It's a real grey area.

Yes, that is an interesting question. Hamilton was doing everything he could to let Raikkonen past, but the Ferrari just couldn't get up to speed. Hamilton nearly nailed Raikkonen at the Bus-Stop (is it still called that anyway?) and eventually got by him because of another of the factors aforementioned: the Ferrari's poor performance under braking.

The scary thing is that it doesn't take geniuses or seasoned racing drivers to work all of this out. You can tell from the footage the massive gulf in performance between the MP4-23 and F2008 in wet conditions and that Hamilton did all he could to let by. And that's before looking at the telemetry!

...but since the rules only state that cars should stick to the track, without saying anything about what to do in these situations, it's hard to really call it which inevitably causes controversy. 90% of the bust-ups in our sport seem to come from rules that are open to interpretation. Is it really so hard to draft proper laws?

As it is, the ruling when a driver quite deliberately leaves the track to avoid hitting a driver who has left them no room are I would assume exactly the same as if a driver spun backwards down an escape road and came out ahead, and those two situations just aren't the same.

That seem's to be the whole issue is we have no clarity and too much interpretation with the rule's.

I am no fan of Hamilton, and a card carrying original member of the Hamilton dissenters club...but I see no reason for this penalty. As much as it pains me to say it, and as much as I dislike Hamilton's attitude nearly every time he opens his mouth, and while he could have backed off more to allow Kimi to get back ahead prior to jumping him under breaking (of course he did that on purpose to put Kimi in a difficult position..it's racing, of course he did).... but that pass was clearly Kimi's fault. He left the inside open...

Hamilton should not have been penalized unless there is something I did not see or some part of the rules I do not understand. Kimi should be slapped around by his team for leaving the inside open but it wouldn't have mattered...when the rain falls that Mclaren has a pretty big advantage or more likely, they were setup a little better in case of rain while Ferrari went for a full dry setup. I was jumping up and down in front of the TV when Hamilton choked and coughed up the lead ...only to seconds later have to sit down while Kimi hit the wall. Do I find it funny that Hamilton was dropped to 3rd? Sure I do. Is it fair....I think not. I'm not drinking the Ferrari/FIA conspiracy Kool-Aid by any stretch...but I think there is either more to this than I see...or the FIA has screwed the proverbial canine on this one.
