Will you keep watching F1 or not?

No, not after this recent decision by the FIA, done and dusted!

I have to think hard about it and will probably indeed stop watching for at least a while/as long as MM/BE are in charge.

I went for the 'have to think hard about it, but probably will come around and keep watching,' because I'm somewhere in between this view and the die-hard fan option. I would be lying if I said I'm going to stop watching F1, because that's just not going to happen, but I would also be lying if I said this hasn't had any impact on my opinion of the sport.

Oh, and I'm not a die-hard fan of McLaren, but I'm heavily anti-Ferrari, a view which hasn't been helped by yesterday. Because McLaren are the only team in the way of the scuderia winning everything, I back them in the fight for the title. Especially because they have a Brit on board.

Imagine what could happen to BMW Sauber next year if the conspiracy theorists were correct.

There would be a huge uproar in Germany and even Schumi would come out on the attack if the FIA dared to do anything to BMW.

You indirectly do just that by simply watching the broadcast (via market share, ad dollars).

I felt last season was a bit of a joke and smacked of been a bit like the WWE. This season has been worse. But I've still watched even though Super Aguri are no more :(

For me, I think I will continue to watch even with all this political silliness. The thing that will make me stop watching is when the racing itself becomes boring - and even if it was controversial, you can't say that the Belgian GP wasn't absolutely fantastic to watch!

Having said that, I echo people's comments above that I now prefer things like the BTCC and Carrera Cup to F1, but that is because there is more on-track action and excitement that F1 has given us this season.

Thinking hard now about going to Silverstone next year. Glad I havent got my ticket yet.I will miss it. I love the whole weekend and its part of my life. But imagine how it would feel if they fixed the result like that when you'd paid all that money. Maybe a weekend in Paris instead. Sad though. If im around and a race is on I don't think I'll be able to not watch but i will no longer rearrange my life to fit in the races and will no longer search out bars to watch it when im on holiday.

I did actually lose interest and stop watching for a couple of years a few seasons back, Starting in about 2002 and probably inspired by Ferrari's team orders in Austria, although their monotonous dominance that year didn't help. Ironically it was only the emergence of Alonso and Raikkonen as serious challengers that lured me back in 2005.

This weekend leaves a(nother) bitter taste in the mouth but I think in the end the difference this time is that a) I've been watching Hamilton racing in different formulas for several years now and have too much invested in him to walk away, and b) the championship is so much more exciting it's still worth watching. However, if this silliness grew to the point where McLaren and Hamilton decided to race in a different formula I'm fairly sure I'd follow them without a backward glance.

Real fans never stop watching no matter what so I wouldn't stop. When Ferrari were crap in the 90s I still watched the races. And bullpoo scandals etc shouldn't make a difference either. I know that in recent times my team has been the one that has benefited but on a different sport, the one we called football, not long ago my team Juventus got done for match fixing and was relegated to Serie B and stripped of 2 titles and missed out on the champions league for at least 2 years. Although now back in Serie A and the Champions League, I still followed my team in Serie B plus followed the others in Serie A and Champions League. This is what a real fan does. Follows the sport no matter what.
