i think hed have been really close if he followed him round the corner, look at the gains thoughout the lap before and how kr was struggling then and afer, too cold for as track started changing!
#63688
But the point is that he ended up much closer to Raikkonen than if he'd backed off and actually gone round the corner.

NO he wouldnt have, Kimi went defensive and did not take the bus stop as he normally would in doing so costing him time, if Lewis had followed Kimi through the corner instead of trying the overtake he would have easily had the better exit speed because
A. he had the racing line, while kimi covered the inside!
B. His car was handling better in those conditions he would have passed him in at la course

He had the racing line going into the corner, but the line he actually took made the second part of the corner tighter (well, it would have been if he'd have gone round it). Therefore, would he have had better exit speed? Doubtful, isn't it. Not impossible, but doubtful.

im appalled that some of you actually agree with this i thought we are all racing fans here? feel ashamed of yourself as i am ashamed to follow such a sport which funnily always leads us to these kinds of debates

Agree with what? If you read my long post further up the page i explain my position - why i think the penalty is bollocks but also my understanding of why someone could make an argument for him breaking that rule.

if you catch my drift,
but this has happened many times without penalty before

Point is - it was a very important decision a race changing incident.

hang on you agree he took the racing line so how come you say the second part of the corner would have been tighter? doesnt make sense.
Lewis had the correct line for the chicane which includes the second part of the corner. Kimi on the other hand went on the inside losing entry speed and compromising the mid corner and exit! if Lewis was following him through theres no doubt he would have been right on his tail!

and sorry i did not read your longer post i take that back

Give me a mo, i'll draw a diagram which may help you see what i'm getting at...

Okay, so it's an extremely crude drawing :P but what i'm trying to say is pretty much that if you consider the new Bus Stop as two roughly 90 degree corners in close proximity, which it more or less is, then Raikkonen was on the inside for the first one and Hamilton had the line going in, but because Raikkonen was in front he could move to the apex from the right hand side of the track, whereas Hamilton was on the left, and had they both gone round the corner Hamilton would have had to take the corner using a line that would've given the corner a more acute angle in comparison to Raikkonen's line...

I don't give 2 flying ones, wether you agree with my comment.

Dont even know if I want to watch the rest of the races, whats the point. I feel really down. If Lewis loses or does something daft ok, its not what I want to see but its to be expected, part of the game. But this....this is not a sport. Niki Lauda has slammed the decision and says he now thinks the FIA are helping Ferrari and acting negativeky to McLaren whenever they can. He's driven for both teams so thats pretty damning. But Mosely has no concsience and no shame so we can expect no change. What is the point of this sport??Im p!ssed off and fed up.

Yes I beleive they should take more attention further down the pack.
But its just that Hammy is in teh limelight.
I haven't read on any websites about Glocks penalty, all he got was an asterix, on a list of finishers.
#63709
looking at the vid a few more times, hamilton was just plain faster and didnt really use kr slipstream for more than a fraction of a second when he dived from outside to inside, and if indeed he was slower than kr over the line he was just plain faster down the hill

I've just watched this again a few times too and it looks kinda like Kimi makes some very strange moves to position his car right in front of Lewis then brakes very early for the corner! I'd put it down to the car not handling well but I'm not so sure now.
