Forgetting about the penalty Lewis really impressed me today. Supreme skill with wet weather driving answers all of the questions his critics have about his ability to drive a race car. He, Alonso & Kubica are the best drivers in F1 right now without question.

What about Massa? he's been really solid this year, untouchable on occasion, but mainly he's managed to maintain his best pace while tempering his former indiscretions. He wasn't brilliant today, but by the same token he kept up with the pace Hamilton and Raikkonen reasonably well and made no mistakes that I saw. That's important when the championship is so close and shouldn't be underestimated

Good point! FM's performance (with a second cycle engine at engine devouring Spa) gets completely drowned out by all the ballyhoo...

I agree. Massa's performance was very good this weekend. When you factor in that his engine was on its second cycle, he was probably faster than Raikkonen in race. In fact, the practice times would seem to confirm that Massa was faster over the weekend.

I think the fact that he settled for second place and didn't mess about in the rain, instead keeping his head, was fairly impressive. I'm eager to hear his opinion on this whole thing, because to me he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would want to win off-track like this.

Is there somewhere official that fans of F1 can formally protest the stewards decision today?
I am so disenchanted with the governance of the sport I am seriously giving up being a supporter of F1.
It is no longer a sport it is Bernie's money making machine and Max's ego trip.

Gaah, I missed half the race, which was bad enough, fortunately saw a very thrilling finish, the ceremony and then went out for a bit. Now, I've come back and read that Massa has won the race. Didn't Lewis win it a few hours ago? I mean, why do they give them throphies then, it's suppossed to be official ceremony, so the result should be valid. I think FIA made fools out of themselves today.

Now, onto more pleasant matters...
Both Toro Rossos in the points? Maybe Vettel should stay...
And Nick Heidfeld got the best out of his tyres and stepped onto the podium, what a nice finish for him  Hopefully this result will ensure that he'll stay with the team.
As for Kimi, I think he would've won, if not for the rain. His championship chances look smaller and smaller with every race. And even Kubi jumped in front of him in the WDC now. I was hoping it would come to this eventually

I should think that Massa is as surprised that he won as I am.

I'm watching highlights now and will have to look for a re-run, because I didn't record the race.

Try going here tomorrow and browsing to the F category. They should have uploaded the race by then. You might not be able to view it because you aren't in the UK, but it's worth trying :)

Thanks, Denthúl, though you're probably right about that I cannot watch from outside of UK. But I found out there will be a replay on one of the polish channels, and although I don't have it, my friend does, so I can see what I didn't see today. But I've already seen a lot on sites such as youtube :)

One person I feel sorry for is Massa. He really is in a no win situation. If he now goes on and wins the championship by less than six points probably half the F1 world will see his greatest achievement in life as the result of a dodgy or even political decision by three Belgian boobs. If he wins by more than six points he would have won anyway and could have done without this controversy unsettling everything at a time when Ferrari seem to be getting back on top of McLaren.

I really think Felipe is a good bloke who wants to win properly by being consistently the best driver, and he'll probably be feeling pretty embarrassed tonight.

As for Hamilton, he and McLaren will probably get even more of a siege mentality which will give them even more motivation to stick it to the FIA by winning the championship. And the more these things happen, the more people will get behind McLaren to spite the Muppets who do these things.

The top three podium winners showed their personalities the last two laps. Kimi's personality is that he reckless and take chances, so it caused him a podium. Mass is not know to be a gambler so he nursed the Ferrari home, Lewis is know to be a rookie that can make big mistakes and he needs a calm voice to calm him down. He got into a shootout with Kimi and took some chances that could have caused him a podium, after Kimi crashed, he continued to push hard with the car slidding until a calm voice came over the radio, RD calmed him down. Nick has always be Mr. Consistent and at the end you will always find him in the mix and just imagine if he only had 1/4 lap left, he could have grabbed the top podium.

He, Alonso & Kubica are the best drivers in F1 right now without question. On another note it was sad for me a lifelong kimi fan to see him crash out like that. I fear that this is the beginning of the end for Kimi and if it does end this season his career has promise has largely been unfulfilled

I have to agree with you there 8-ball. As a long time Raikkonen fan its hard to see him make a mistake like he did today. Really disappointing, but at the end it was a really good race for the sport. To see to top drivers fighting it out down to the final few laps. Kimi will obviously have to support Massa now but he has only his self to blame. As for Lewis, he''ll definitely fight to the end. (I would like to see Heikki and Rosberg wasp seats in 09)

How can you spell Swap wrong ? Its not even that you put a wrong first letter in, you have completely jumbled the whole word up, I doubt Heikki nor Nico would want a wasp in there with them

I don't remember the incident, but you just answered your own question...Massa came out right alongside Sutil...
