Another boring race, another boring track. Just one lap by another. The race makes me sleepy.
Overtaking? Use one-stop strategy. Fighting for championship? Have a good qualifying.
If it is going like this, i really think the F1 teams could put a robot in their car instead of human being.

Yeah. I wasn't overly impressed with Valencia, either. I was hoping that at least the fact that it's a new circuit unfamiliar to the drivers might make it somewhat interesting, but nothing interesting really happened on-track.

Valencia was utter crap

Indeed, at this rate if every race between now and the end of the season is any better, Valencia is going to get my "worst race of the season" award in my yearly awards on here. Last year Turkey got it.

The track itself and the setting is quite good where it dies is that F1 cars cannot overtake easily which should be solved next year. But you are right in that the spectacle was boring. I did something that I haven't done in ages I left in the middle of the race to do something more entertaining!

Yesterday's race did not live up to expectations, we all know that. I think, however, sniping at the venue is a little premature. It will get better over the next couple of years. They were still finishing off bits of it on Thursday so the race could be held! The track layout itself has to take some of the blame in that it basically means you need a good engine to do well at the circuit. This is where single-biggest problem comes in. If the guy in front of you is getting an extra 20 bhp from his engine compared to yours, you have no chance of catching him in the straight, so you will not be able to slipstream and then subsequently outbrake him! This is were Formula One needs to cut down its operating costs because the big boys are blowing so much money on research and development that the smaller teams could only dream about. Similar to this problem, and not a hell of a lot behind it in terms of significance, is Formula One's reliance on aerodynamic grip. As you know, the amount of turbulent air from the cars now makes it very difficult to close up on a car and overtake. Thankfully, this will be rectified to some degree next year. Finally, as I've said before, Formula One has never been famous for huge amounts of overtaking. Yes, the amount of it has decreased in recent times, but there was never as much as some people like to believe. Some get all misty eyed and dreamy when thinking about events fifteen years ago. For me, other reasons why the sport seems less interesting is the boring tracks that we have now that have forced older, more exciting tracks off the calendar and a complete lack of charisma from the drivers. The sport needs personalities who are prepared to open their mouths, not a load of spice boy yes men.

I have to agree. At the moment, I am unable to remember a more boring race.
It's pretty sad that even James Allen had to create a "package deal" with a tomato throwing contest, so at least next years viewers may be able to watch something of interest.

Normally at this stage I go on about Australia losing their GP (one day) because people in Europe don't like getting out of bed early to watch our race. Well if it's sleep you guys are worried about, just go to Valencia next year. I'm sure you'll be able to catch up on a lot of it during the race.

It was terrible.

Staying up late on a saturday night with a few beers watching the season opener is great!

I agree. It's great getting up early for some races. :)

I love the get-up early races, sure it means you get less sleep but you can still lie around in bed afterwards, it's a tradition for many F1 fans. We don't want Australia losing races just because some of us Europeans don't want to lose sleep.

I prefer races that I have to get up early for than the midday ones they always create a really good atmosphere at my house.

Thanks to Bernie, this is getting worse. He wants this kind of city races. We saw in Valencia what to expect from Singapore (may be Paris in future). Please, stop this Bernie! Monaco is enough!
