Conspiracy theroy. And SUPRISE SUPRISE it does NOT involve Ferrari (this time anyhow)

DID MICHAEL PHELPS REALLY WIN THAT 7TH GOLD MEDAL AT THE 2008 BEIJING OLYMPICS
OR
WAS THIS A CONSPIRACY OF OLYMPIC PROPORTIONS?
BECAUSE A FUNNY THING HAPPENED IN THE WATER CUBE.

Just watched the race again, Phelps wins.
There is no conspiracy.
0.01s is a close finish, but thats why they measure to 0.01s, because the races can be close.

Tag-Heuer are official timekeepers of Formula 1 and own shares in McLaren, maybe we will have some more theories if LH or HK get pole this weekend. Especially as they measure to 0.001s

I hope the attempts fail. I'm not interested in watching England's bunch of over-paid spice boys playing under some guise of national unity.

completely agree, football, national sport, oh the shame!! i honestly would rather carpet bowls or tidily winks be the nationla sport

Why do you dislike football so much? Football is great. What would you rather then have as England's national sport? Cricket perhaps? How boring!

I like football a lot, but I don't like the acting etc. that has come into the game. Footballers are a load of pansies now. You didn't see the likes of Pelé behaving as footballers do nowadays.

I've been waiting for somebody to mention that for years. Still, say no more about it: we don't want to be giving people any ideas. :)

I'd be game if it was players only from the Football League Championship, the league below the Premiership, albeit much more exciting, not as predictable and has no prima-donna crybabies - except QPR and not full of poncy £100,000 a-week or more wimps. Sheffield United's Chris Morgan, now there's a proper English centre-half, better than Rio "Jar-Jar Binks" Ferdinand any day.

Legend. Lee McCulloch punched Chris Morgan in the eye during Wigan vs Sheffield United game at the JJB stadium on Saturday 16th December 2006, but Chris Morgan did not complain afterwards stating "We're all sportsmen. We're going to get knocks and black eyes. It is part and parcel of the game."

Personally I would have knocked the crap out of the Scot. Keano now that guy was a hardnut. Breaking someone's leg and he didn't even flinch.

Bolt has done it. 200m gold and a new world record at 19.30s . . . . 0.02s faster than old record. What a legend!!

Definitely agree there. Eight medals in one Games is impressive. :)

No way jose. I don't think he can be held in the same acclaim. Winning 8 Gold Medals sure great. But look at what he won them in. Even Michael Johnson said "It's the equivalent of a standard 100m race, a skipping 100m race and a running back 100m". It's nearly impossible for U.Bolt to win 8 Golds. Usain Bolt has 2 WR's to his name. That's just due to his raw talent. Beating quality athletes such as Powell and Gay.

Phelps on the other hand broke 6/7 WR's. No doubt great. But look at the other contributing factors. The deep water which took off 1% off of the time. Then the new swimsuit in which Phelps admitted himself it took off 2% off the time. That 3% is substantial enough to break the WR. If he didn't have that 3% he would have only broken 2 WR's. Then there's the argument of competitors. The closest competitor to him was probably the Hungarian, the Japanese and Crocker (who gave a half-arsed attempt). All 3 of them were not relatively as hard as Powell and Gay to compete with.

He's a great athlete no doubt but he's not the star of the tournament. Just look at the roar of when his name is announced and how the Chinese react to him.
