We're taking the kids to Valencia shortly and will be there for the Grand Prix weeknd. Unfortunately we don't have tickets and wouldn't be able to afford £1000+ for the 5 of us anyway but we would like to experience something of the atmosphere and see the race, and maybe practice and qualifying whilst in Valencia.

We all love watching F1 on TV but have never been to a Grand Prix so don't know what to expect in the area around the circuit and of course with Valencia being so new, we have been unable to find anyone who knows anything about it.

I guess my questions are
1) Are there likely to be any vantage points outside the circuit? (Hotels, offices, hillsides etc)
2) Are there likely to be big screens in the City to watch the race (like the 'Fans Fests at the Football World Cup')
3) Any other suggestions other than just watching on TV at the villa

Many thanks in advance

1) Maybe, but all the buildings are probably privately owned and so it would be difficult to get a spot on one! I don't think there are any hillsides near the track, and even if there is it would be nigh on impossible to get a spot.
2) Possibly, i don't know to be honest, it's more likely that they would have it on a big screen in sports bars though.
3) Umm... see above? No suggestions, sorry. Rent a boat and try and watch from the water? Rent hang gliders? :P

hire a dingy (maybe Flavs) and watch from the harbour

Shouldn't have to worry about sand there either!
