Well, it's not up to you to decide where Mexico belongs to. E.g., I don't consider Texas a part of the US either, but I don't go around and claim it's its own country (or should be or no Texan can ever again be US president) :P

Texas is kick @$$.

There should never be more than 20 GPs in a season as an absolute maximum, otherwise each individual race starts to lose it's value and excitement.

WTF  !! Explain to us all how having more than 20 GP's will 'lose it's value and excitement' to us F1 fan's ????

I'd love to. Say you had 8 GPs in an F1 season, one per month, and then a 4 month break. You'd be going absolutely bananas with excitement when a race finally came around; you'd be glued to every second of it, all the practices, everything. Obviously 8 races is too few, but as you go up and up there's a saturation point, not only in terms of the teams being able to keep up with the calendar, but also in terms of a viewer's excitement at a Grand Prix weekend. If there were 30 races in a season, one per week with a 5 month lay off, wouldn't they start to lose their uniqueness. For me one of the exciting things about an F1 race is that I have to wait 2 or even 3 weeks to get my fix, so when it finally arrives I attach more value to it. It's like holiday. Too much of a good thing and it starts to lose one of the factors that made it enjoyable in the first place.

I think 20 is quite a good limit, because you get pretty much a race every 2 weeks with maybe a 3 week gap at one or two points in the season, and then you have a longish break to build up the excitement again after the climax of the last few races.

And there should be a limit set. Maybe you think it should be higher than 20, but the danger in not setting any kind of maximum is that you just keep saying 'Oh come on, one more can't hurt.'

This is just my view anyway. Maybe you'd love to have a GP every weekend for long periods of the year, and would appreciate each race if there were 30 just as much as if there were only 10. But for me the sport would lose one of the aspects that makes it unique, that sense of having to wait for good things.

I more or less agree with juggles. Having too many races would just decrease the levels of anticipation and excitement for me and it would hinder car development etc., which is also a big part of Formula One. A Grand Prix once every fortnight is adequate.

I must agree with you guy's that the anticipation aspect would go way down not having to wait so long between race's. I guess I was self-loathing and thinking it's kinda like having a girlfriend you can only see for 4-6hr's each month :( but man oh man those 4-6 hr's would be AWESOME :hehe: !!!

I think 20 should be a maximum number for races a year as well. We've already had the 19 race 2005 season and noboby complained about that, so one more race shouldn't be too much of an ask. Also 20 is a nice round number too.

From F1 Live:

Mexico is hoping to be added to an expanded Formula One calendar in 2010.

I'd like to see a Mexican GP just to get another race here in North America. Right now, Canada is it as far as our continent's involvement with Formula One, now that the US is out. I'd really like to see another United States Grand Prix, so hopefully someone can work something out there, but at least a Mexican GP would land North America another event.

You do know that Mexico is in South America? :hehe:

Actually I think its in Central America but lets not split hairs. ive been there once and liked it. Watched a Gp in a sushi bar, cant remember where it was but Juanbabe won :):):):):) . I was in a very touresty area and would like to see more of the 'Real' Mexico.Where are hey proposing the GP?

South America is only a convenient piece of phraseology, for Central America is not a continent. Mexico is in North America. :hehe:

Central America is geographically apart of the North American continent. only human made social boundaries create Central America, if Mexico was an English speaking state of the USA we wouldnt be having this convo
