From Planet F1:

Martin Brundle has escaped punishment from Britain's independent regulator for using the word 'pikey' during a F1 broadcast.

In the build-up to the Canadian GP, Brundle, ITV's commentator, asked F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone: "There are some pikeys out there putting some new tarmac down at Turn 10 apparently. Are they out of the way yet?"

The comment went unnoticed by either Brundle or Ecclestone, however, viewers of ITV's lodged complaints with both the broadcaster and Ofcom for the commentator's use of the derogatory word for travelers.

According to Metro, though, Ofcom has opted not to punish either ITV or Brundle, accepting the broadcaster's explanation that no offense was intended.

At least the right decision was made, albeit it surprisingly given the political-correct culture into which Britain has fallen.

It's just more PC whining from people who take anything and everything as a personal jab.

A lot of the time the people about whom the joke is said don't actually get offended. It's just other people getting offended on behalf of other people! :censored:

I bet the people who complained are ones who hate F1 and want to do anything to get rid of Brundle and ruin it for those who like F1 and enjoy Brundle's co-commentary.

deff. They would have been angered to see that F1 had disrupted their Sunday night TV schedule, putting the likes of heartbeat back by a bit;
Tossers, it wasnt like that when the Euros and now the OLYMPICS take over tv!

It's quite surprising that anyone complained, because a) pikeys can't even afford tv access and b) only the most extreme morons would try and defend that decietful, sponging lot.

Ugh, i totally despise political correctness, it's for those with absolutely zero sense of humor. :rolleyes:
