The evidence:

- we've had four different Drivers' Championship leaders, including a three-way tie at one point

- we've had three different Constructors' Championship leaders, and there's still only 21 points between 1st and 3rd

- we've had five different winners from three different teams, including two first-time winners

- we've had 12 different drivers on the podium from eight different teams, including three first-timers

- 18 different drivers have scored points from 9 different teams

- The field is very tight - even the Force Indias are usually only 2.5s off the pace (remember when people like Forti were consistently over 9s off?)

- we've had all the closeness of last year's McLaren/Ferrari battle, with BMW also involved and without the messy politics

- the only controversy of the year has centred around a universal hate figure, i.e. Max Mosley

- all the main championship protagonists have made mistakes and had bad luck, providing an interesting narrative.

- we've had some all-time classic drives from Hamilton, Massa and others

- Barrichello's got a smile on his face again, and pretty much everyone enjoys that

- fiddly little minor stories such as Sutil in Monaco, Piquet's turnaround, Toyota's podium after Ove Andersson's death, and so on have provided extra interest

- Above all, we still can't predict who's ultimately going to win

I really can't remember a better season!

it would be even better if there were more than two constructors capable of winning, even though BMW-Sauber has won one. but other than that it has been very entertaining and we still have 7 races left of it

it has been a good season but there is still something not quite right for me. I cant put my finger on it but i still feel that the early and mid 90's were somehow a better watch and more exciting

The last few seasons in Formula 1 have generally been very good, this season being the best in a very long while. But, like you, there was something about Formula 1 in the 1990s which was more appealing. Although there were less drivers in contention for titles, the tracks back then tended to be a little more exciting and less forgiving if you made a mistake, you also had more characters in the sport and Formula 1 didn't have such a commercial feel to it. Today, the FIA have gone paranoid on safety issues, drivers tend to be bland and Ecclestone will take the sport to wherever the money is, which means we are getting multiple ultra-clinical circuits designed by Tilke! :censored:

This is by far the best season that i have seen but I have only been watching it for about 8 years. Intense competition and the new drivers starting to make their mark on the sport. its brilliant :D:yes:

Yes I think it has been a good year but the only problem is that realistically it's only Ferrari or McLaren that are expected to win.
It would be better if it was a lottery each race with 3 or 4 teams with a good chance of winning.

It would be even more exciting & interesting I think.

LOL the more competition there is the better i am willing for a season where more than 2 teams are regularly winning races, hopefully 2010 when i predict BMW and Renault will join the party with Mclaren and Ferrari

i had 2 favourite years! any guesses

1998 and 1999? :hehe:

In terms of teams competing, another season like 1988 would do me. :cloud9:
