Massa did an ok job and was desperately unlucky but I think that this engine must be a one time thing. Meantime someone at the Ferrari team needs to sit down with Kimi and give him a stern talking to. $51million a year and the crap that I saw on that track from him today is unacceptable.

His engine would have been on the second of its two-race cycle, seeing as his blew in Australia as well.

True. Also, I dno has Kimi entered "Hakkinen mode" where he just has lost all motivation, but still has the speed?

Kimi has the speed but is lacking something. Certainly it is nothing to do with the Ferrari team and is probably a personal issue. Whatever it is it needs to be sorted because for $51 million a year he owes Ferrari a lot more

Yeah, to be honest, he may just romp to a victory in Valencia and we'd be saying, What dilemma?
But if he doesn't start delivering, I think he should just quit. He hardly gonna change for 2009, if he can't be bothered right in the thick of the title fight?

Even if Kimi does win in Valencia it still doesn't solve the inconsistency problem. Massa is inconsistent because IMO he lacks real quality as a racer. Kimi on the other hand is one of the best and I just think back to Japan 2005 to see the kind of drives he is capable of producing. He won the title last year due to Mclaren messing up and I would have thought that he would want a couple more titles to cement his place as one of the greats but he seems to lack motivation. I agree with you that if he doesn't up his game then it is time to go. That Ferrari could go to a driver that would appreciate it

Ur rite, he kinda won the title by default... u no almost Prost in 1986... Hamilton/Alonso like Mansell/Piquet kinda self imploded and he snuck in at the death. Mind you If im honest Kimi isn't the driver Prost was. I dunno if I could rate him as a great world champion, but then again, you have to be special to be a champion.

Ferrari lack leadership. Despite no team orders, Mclaren have it with Hamilton. You've seen it with Kubica at BMW to.
They need to decide who is going to be their man for the title. Massa has out performed him this year.
They need a Kubica or an Alonso...

Who's to say he hasn't got issues with Ferrari? Every time he went off the boil at McLaren, nobody could resist sticking the boot into the team.

I agree. Raikkonen was pretty average last season and has been so this season as well. It's simply not on. What makes it even more frustrating is that Raikkonen is one of the most talented guys on the grid! It's pretty sad as a Formula One fan to have to watch somebody drink away their ability, chances and legacy.

When Raikkonen left McLaren, a lot of the team's supporters were making out as if it were the end of the world. Even Ron Dennis wanted him to stay! I was probably the only guy associated with McLaren glad to see him go.

Gutted for FM :cryfloods:
However, as his q2 times showed and then his race pace today - Ferrari are right up there. Also see KR's huge pace towards the end of the race. On this track, Ferrari had the pace advantage over McLaren. Bodes well for an exciting championship finish after things threatened to become an LH procession to the title.

the track came to Ferrari as it did last year. the rubber and the heat it finally worked. compared to the practice sessions with less rubber and cooler track temps.

i`m a Hamilton fan through and through,

I would like to be the first to say that Massa deserved that win completely, it was a bold move to gain the lead into the 1st corner and i really feel for him. Superb drive, and he deserved victory.

 Well done Ferrari, you really got your stuff together

And sorry Massa, you drove well.

Can we please have no "Hamilton is Crap" posts here? This is about Massa and his bad luck.

Same here. Hamilton's my guy, but Massa was putting on quite a performance and deserved to win it, not only for the swift overtake right off the starting grid but also for his sustained performance throughout the race. Lap after lap he broadened the gap between him and Hamilton, so he deserved to be out in front, without a doubt. Yes, it was rotten luck right there so close to the end, but Hamilton also had a bout of rotten luck earlier in the race, too. The guys that should have been first and second ended up seventeenth and fifth respectively, so the GP was pretty rough on both drivers.

I was wandering if Kimi is having distractions outside F1. I mean he is not driving nowhere near his potential, and tother week he pushed the photographer over (frustration), so I was just thinking he may be distracted.

By the way, was that Anvil wing put on by Ferrari in panic. Like Renault earlier this season?

You're right. He does have distractions outside of Formula One:

Massa your not alone.

1982 Monaco Grand Prix
Poor Didier Pironi led on the final lap but his car broke down in the famous tunnel. Andrea de Cesaris then stopped on the approach to the casino complex, allowing Riccardo Patrese - who had already spun out - to trundle over the finishing line in his re-started Brabham.

1991 Canadian Grand Prix
One of the most embarrassing last-lap breakdowns in F1 history. Nigel Mansell was waving to the crowd, in anticipation of a comfortable win - he had led from the first corner - when his glove flicked the engine kill switch and his car stopped. Or, he let his revs drop too low and the engine simply cut out. Mansell, ever the proud driver, denies either story to this day, claiming there was a technical failure.

That's a bit unfair on Hakkinen. He gave his utmost at McLaren and put in some wonderful drives, but his car repeatedly him down. Raikkonen, on the other hand, has no such issues. He's just being his usual lazy self.

I miss Hakkinen. He was a decent person, incredibly funny (often unintentionally) and a great driver. :cloud9:

Same. I wish I could have paid more attention at the time when Mika was racing. Would very much like to see him race F1 again.
