The fight between BMW and Toyota is really going to be interesting now. Can Toyota overtake them?

It'll be an amazing effort if they do, i think they're about 40ish points behind them?

Points-wise, it's probably going to be a struggle to overtake them. However, in terms of performance, Toyota can still do that. I think Toyota are going to win the battle for 'best of the rest' and will definitely deserve it if they do. :)

Meh, there's still RBR in the race. Honestly, I think RBR will clinch it in the end. I don't think Glock is going to perform as good as this in the following races but Trulli will carry the team.

I disagree. Now that Glock has picked his performance up and has been consistent over the past few races (he was on for a good points haul in Hockenheim until his crash) I think that Toyota have the advantage. The car is quite even with Red Bull, but unless DC picks his game up, Toyota will take that place because, as consistent as Webber is, Trulli has had similar results in enough races, combined with a podium, to help keep Toyota in the fight.

Yeah Toyota are going to have to finish ahead of BMW every race to overtake them, but that is going to be a hard feat because they are 55 points behind BMW.

Yeh! Toyota did fabulous, Timo was just superb all weekend

Yes they did. Getting Glock on the podium and both cars in the points is great accomplishment. I was hoping Toyota would bring their F1 car to the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca with Timo Glock, but it doesnt look that way :(

It's a close one that. You have Glock and Piquet finding form on the one hand, but for me, it pretty much depends on who is willing to keep on developing this season's car...

toyota have been improving no doubt, and they have the money, maybe they keep it up, overtake bmw, i doubt it, finish better than them, quite possible

Firstly... to James Allen, Steve Rider, Anthony Hamilton, Mark Blundell and of course Hamilton himself...

You saved yourself, but so much for an "expectant Hamilton victory"

To Felipe Massa, bad luck mate, you really had the beating of HIM today.

And to Kovy, pretty lucky, but as they say...

:hehe::hehe: Oh this one is also to "The Axis"

Good race though.

Very good race :D Toyota are finely starting to do something with the biggest budget in F1! Henki was really fast on his final stint he did a great job! Massa was amazing to bad he got screwed over by his car :(. Little unlucky for lewis as well.

A good race with a little twist at the end :D
First congratulations to Heikki, finally a win for him
I actually felt a little disappointed that Massa didn't beat Lewis, because it certainly seemed Felipe would win fair and square. He's the driver of the day for me, right before Timo Glock :) As for Timo, he finished in front of Kimi like he wanted, and even got on the podium. This is the best result for Toyota this season, if I'm not mistaken and the same thing for Renault, right?

I don't think that will happen point-wise, but in the race they clearly beat them this time and I think they can easily continue doing that.

I think so too. BMW has already given up on this season.

One thing that surprised me was when Kubica didn't get a new set of tyres, I thought the first set didn't work pretty well, because his times were not good, but after his pitstop the were even worse, so, sadly, that probably was a mistake in the end. :(

I still think Glock won't perform as good. He'll make a contribution no doubt but it won't be as much as needed. I agree with you with DC. He's been poor this season and he's not helping out Webber in the points haul. Looking forward to the partnership of Webber and Vettel next season. With the funds they and Toyota could be challenging BMW for 3rd spot.

Ahaha, Hamilton looked like he was sulking, but it's his own fault for ragging his tyres too hard!!

I'm afraid not. Bridgestone are fairly sure that debris caused the puncture. You may not like Hamilton, that's fair enough, but that doesn't mean that you can blame him for stuff that was not down to him.

I thought it was pretty funny when Kimi took the champagne instead of giving it to the team, he probably finished the bottle before the press conference :hehe:

:hehe:

Timo Glock did excellent today! He was easily my driver of the day.

Agreed. It's probably the first ever time that Glock has impressed me. Maybe a few other drivers need a bad accident!

"Fairly sure". Come on, that totally smacks of BS. Especially when it's a driver who has a reputation for being hard on his tyres on a circuit that eats tyres as well. Oh and the fact there was really no debris to be picked up either. You really think Bridgestone would turn round and say 'yes, our tyres failed in the conditions'?

I'm afraid that all the evidence points to the contrary imo.

...and how do you know that?

Well, ok maybe they haven't :error:, I just think they have, because they fell behind with the development. Their pace was worse than Renault and Toyota today.

They probably focused most of their time on the next year. Theissen said they reached their goal for this season already and they would not be setting any new goals. I remember someone from the team (Kubica IIRC) saying earlier that they used up all their major ideas for the development in the early part of the season. Rampf also said they are not planning any major updates, only for Monza they will prepare something.

Bridgestone wouldn't need to lie. They've got a ready-made excuse, i.e. Hamilton chewed up his tyres again. Punctures can happen; they are not some rare occurrence. Further, another driver had a puncture today if I recall correctly.
