Only about 3, 4 tenths behind Massa in quali with roughly 4 laps more fuel, not that poor but yeah, not great. Then he was 1 1/2 seconds a lap faster than Alonso, so you gotta say his race pace deserved a decent points haul.

Thinking about it, the real pity is that Hungary is such a crap track.

well i think renult finished where they are today on merit, a bit behind toyota, and of course ferrari and mclaren, but definitly better than bmw and redbull, at least today

When you take into account the supposed traction deficit they have, they did very well today! It's gonna be so close between them and Toyota.

I've been a fan of McLaren for many years, but this sounds like a Massa eulogy. That's tough luck, that's F1 racing. I find it hard to have sympathy for anything red, after the events of 07 season.

Massa deserved to win the Grand Prix today, but engine failures are part of racing. It's happened to various drivers over the years. I don't see anything extra special in what Massa did today anyway. His start was excellent, albeit assisted from being on the clean side of the grid, but he just did what he usually does. Leads very well from the front, easier to do in modern Formula One, around a track on which overtaking is impossible and against a McLaren that has greater tyre degradation. There's a long way to go in the championship battle, for Ferrari and Massa have to look on the bright side of things: their race pace is on a par with the McLarens and McLaren are still having some tyre problems. I feel bad for the injustice that befell Massa today, but, like I say, I've seen it before, and helped McLaren out, which, for me, is the only thing that counts.

However, as his q2 times showed and then his race pace today - Ferrari are right up there. Also see KR's huge pace towards the end of the race. On this track, Ferrari had the pace advantage over McLaren. Bodes well for an exciting championship finish after things threatened to become an LH procession to the title.

Definitely. The only things I can really ask for, in terms of the championship battle, is that:

A) Heikki gets a few more wins to keep Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen from wandering too far ahead of their respective rivals
B) Kubica has another string of decent results to give him an outside chance, just because it would make the race in Brazil so much more exciting, though it's already set to be something good

Massa did an ok job and was desperately unlucky but I think that this engine must be a one time thing. Meantime someone at the Ferrari team needs to sit down with Kimi and give him a stern talking to. $51million a year and the crap that I saw on that track from him today is unacceptable.

Kimi has the speed but is lacking something. Certainly it is nothing to do with the Ferrari team and is probably a personal issue. Whatever it is it needs to be sorted because for $51 million a year he owes Ferrari a lot more

Kimi has the speed but is lacking something. Certainly it is nothing to do with the Ferrari team and is probably a personal issue. Whatever it is it needs to be sorted because for $51 million a year he owes Ferrari a lot more

Yeah, to be honest, he may just romp to a victory in Valencia and we'd be saying, What dilemma?
But if he doesn't start delivering, I think he should just quit. He hardly gonna change for 2009, if he can't be bothered right in the thick of the title fight?
