LEWIS: I'M AS GOOD AS SCHU
http://www.express.co.uk/motorsport/view/55202/Lewis-I-m-as-good-as-Schu
Lewis Hamilton warned Ferrari he is already as good as Michael Schumacher after storming into pole position for today’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
McLaren driver Hamilton is on course to become the first man to complete a hat-trick of Formula One victories since German legend Schumacher in 2006.
He holds a four-point drivers’ championship lead over Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and is seven points ahead of the Italian team’s Kimi Raikkonen.
And Hamilton, who has team-mate Heikki Kovalainen behind him on the Budapest grid, boasted: “I am at my best. So far, this is as comfortable as I have ever been.
“I feel pretty much on top of things and I still have room to improve.
“You can never feel too comfortable, but I feel safe in the position I am in. I couldn’t be in a better position to push for a win.”
Schumacher was handed a consultancy role with Ferrari when he quit Formula One.
He was at the German Grand Prix, where he was in radio communication with Massa andRaikkonen in practice, and is expected to do more testing.
Ferrari are hoping Schumacher’s experience in the cockpit will help Massa and Raikkonen to start winning again, but Hamilton believes he is on a par with the seven-time world champion.
“I think Michael’s presence at Ferrari is a compliment to us,” said Hamilton. “We are not doing that and we are still winning races.
“When we go to a test, it is cool to be on the track the same day as him. For me, it is even more of a challenge.
“Michael is someone I have been watching for years, but I can do just as good a job as him and my task is to contribute as much as he does.
“I expected Ferrari to be a bit stronger, but for whatever reason they have not been quite as
competitive recently.
“I’m not thinking about them trying to catch up, though. It is up to us to keep pushing.”
Despite his problems in Canada and France, where he failed to score any points, Hamilton insists his confidence has never wavered.
But, following his stormy relationship with former team-mate Fernando Alonso and the heartache on missing out on the drivers’ championship last season, Hamilton is well aware there is plenty of time for more twists and turns – on and off the track.
“I have some great memories from last year,” he said. “It was an incredible roller-coaster ride. This year it is a much smoother roller-coaster ride, but one I am very much enjoying.
“I have believed I have got the opportunity to win the world championship since day one. I’ve had a couple of bad races, but there has always been a long way to go so I’ve never believed I can’t win.”

I did not know that Hammy was also the fat lady.

I think he may have it in the bag this year.
But there is a lot of good young talent around at the moment & if they get in the right car's in the near future I don't think he should already be singing.

I knew there was a reason why I didn't like the boy.

Lewis Hamilton is an arrogant little prick. He can think all he wants but he is nothing more than an average driver just like Massa and Kimi. He is only doing well because his car is going good for now. He can dream to be on par with Michael Schumacher but someone or something will soon put the arrogant little bar steward in his place. Michael Schumacher could win with the second best car. Notebly with Bennetton-Ford in 1994 and then with Bennetton-Renault and then in the years 2000 and 2003 when his Ferrari wasn't exactly the greatest. Lewis Hamilton is yet to achieve this and wont unless he has the best car which he has right now. I hope in the end he stuffs up. Excuse the way I have worded this but Lewis Hamilton angers me and is a little w***er that needs to be tought some manners.

Well my previous comment is going to anger some Lewis Hamilton lovers but sorry it is how he makes me feel. Perhaps I should of worded in a more less hostile way like this. Can't Lewis Hamilton just win and shut his mouth and let others say how great he is if he infact is as great as he thinks. That is how it should be, that others make these kind of compliments because when others do it then there is never any arrogance in it if you know what I mean. :) Anyway I still don't take back that I hope in the end he stuffs up. Weather it is in the Hungarian GP or later down the track. If McLaren want to win Ithink it would be nicer with a more subtle driver like Heikki.

Well, TBH he didn't actually say he's as good as Schumacher, right?
He only said he can do his job and contribute as good as him, which we will see if he does in a couple of years.
But this is a nice pic, Mike :hehe:

He appears a lot in the press, he's asked a lot of questions about himself, so it seems like he's throwing words everywhere. I don't like his boasting too - he has either a big ego or big confidence in his abilities, which probably helps him on the track, but makes many people hate him. I would very much like to see his speeches toned down a bit, but this is just his personality and unless it changes (probably not ) I will continue not liking him. However If he wins WDC :yikes: I'll say he deserved it.

:banghead: You know its a cycle with Lewis Hamilton. I was starting to like him again, but then he comes out and says something stupid crap like this that makes me question him. He's an arrogant little twit that should be slapped in the back of his head by his father from time to time... oh wait his dad is the same damn way

I pretty much agree with przemo, for me it's how he says things as opposed to what his point is (although that can often be bigheaded too!). He's probably not helped by the retarded British press though, and this is quite a good example of that.

“I think Michael’s presence at Ferrari is a compliment to us,” said Hamilton. “We are not doing that and we are still winning races."

Not doing what though?

Not getting someone in who can greatly benefit your team? If so, that's quite stupid really.

“You can never feel too comfortable, but I feel safe in the position I am in."

But mate, everybody knows that it can all change in one race. :-|

I agree with you completely if he carries on being this arrogant then no one is going to like him in Formula One.

The Ferrari from 2001 - 2004 was by far and away the fastest car on the track so but that doesn't in any way diminish Schumacher's victories just as it doesn't with Lewis now that the Mclaren happens to be the fastest car. I think hatred of Lewis on this board is starting to be embedded meaning anything he says will be taken as arrogance. Reading the post he is comparing himself to Schumi but in his contribution to the team. And he certainly contributes more than Kovi does

Why does Lewis Hamilton's father always have to be skulking around the pit lane with that smirk on his puss. Do the other drivers have their daddies interfering with the goings on ??

I think Anthony Hamilton now gets more airtime than the entire Torro Rosso team :D

The quote that really gets me is
Lewis Hamilton warned Ferrari he is already as good as Michael Schumacher
