Damon made a couple of remarks today that made me laugh, namely the one about kicking cats behind closed doors when you're not doing well - then he felt the need to go back and clarify that he didn't actually kick cats behind closed doors. Anyone else notice that? :hehe:

I think Brundle likes to go off on holiday with his family at this time of year. Damon did a great job today, the only good thing about qualifying was him and that's why he was my hero back in the days. :)

It will be nice if he was commentating next year along with Brundle, that would be perfect.

I thought he was kinda poor :S
Am I the only one who thought so?
There was a lot of awkward silences... And he kept forgetting names and things...

Still could have been Allen on his own :eek::eek:

Well considering this is only the second time Damon's commentated, he's done a much better job than James Allen - who's commentated since he did that one off covering for Murray in 2000 at Magny Cours.

I only half agree with EwmanM that Hill's commentary today was poor. Yes, he did forget a lot of names and there were some awkward pauses, but he made up for that with some insightful comments throughout the coverage. Also, as 7Up says, it is only his second time commentating on a race. Given a wee bit more practice, he could do a very good job. I'd rather listen to Hill than that tosser Allen.

I accept he is inexperienced, but I also feel Allen was asking him absolutely awful question.
"Can you tell me the exact extra time the track gives with more rubber put down?"
Stuff that was really on the spot. Damon isn't out of F1, but i am sure he doesn't keep up as much with all the technical stuff as say Brundle, who appeared fanatical about it.

I thought Allen's question to Damon about if he "loved" Trulli was the most stupid question, I can imagine Damon was thinking "James and Jarno sitting in a tree..." before he said anything.

I watched it on SPEED this morning but no Damon. What I did notice was theywere about 10 minutes behind the real qualifying. I had to turn the Live Timing off so as not to spoil the TV.

Yeah, they do that for quali to better fit their commercials w/o truncating the action on track.
