Im still stuck on McLaren being a Kiwi team

Yeah, I was a little surprised to see a McLaren supporter from Australia. :hehe:

theres actually quite a few Aussies who follow McLaren, even more now with Lewis.

and hey i am from South Australia the Aussie Vs New Zealand rivalry isnt really felt here as we do not follow Rugby Union or Rugby League, to me Kiwis are just like Aussies with slightly weirder accents

Qualifying will be very exciting and interesting to say the least but Lewis is looking very strong once again.

practice times lok promising for renault, would be nice if they got that tyre wear sorted!

id love to see them challenge bmw, but i dont think it will be yet, notie the yet!

BMW's race pace is always better than qualifying pace, especially Heidfeld as soon as he gets those tyres warmed up.

Lack of torque and traction. And seeing as Renault are way down on power sticking to the rules ;)
Well the "rules"

the super softs are not worh 3-5 tenths per lap!

they are : Hamilton on hard 1:21.535 and 1:20.554 on soft. i accept that the track has quickened by a few tenths but hamilton did not gain all of the time by the track having more grip.

I have to agree as SS's can be as much as 6-7 tenth's over the hard compound.

From autosport.com:

Raikkonen fears McLaren still quicker

By Pablo Elizalde Friday, August 1st 2008, 16:04 GMT

World champion Kimi Raikkonen feels rivals McLaren are still ahead of Ferrari in terms of pace following practice in Hungary.

Although Ferrari dominated the opening session this morning, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time of the day in the afternoon, when Raikkonen was down in fifth place, ahead of teammate Felipe Massa.

And although Raikkonen believes there is room to improve, he thinks McLaren, winners of the last two races, are still ahead.

"We worked on various set-up options for the car," said the Finn. "I also tried the new engine cover, but it is hard to assess it in any detail.

"The situation is not too bad, the car handles better, but our main rivals seem to be still a little bit quicker than us, even if there is the usual question mark over any difference in the fuel loads.

"There is still room for improvement and we will concentrate all our efforts on this in preparing for qualifying and the race."

Massa echoed his teammate's thoughts, saying he is expecting a tough time to try to beat their rivals.

"It's hard to say exactly where we are compared to the opposition, but clearly they are very quick," said Massa. "I did not feel too comfortable on the softest tyre while on the harder one, which I used first, the situation was much better.

"As usual on the first day at the Hungaroring, it is difficult to understand how the tyres are behaving because you always get a lot of graining, while the situation changes bit by bit as more rubber goes down on the track surface.

"We know in which direction we have to work and we will do all we can to bring home a good result. It will be tough, but I am confident all the same."

That is one thing I do like about Kimi as he does not try to butter his bread trying to cover up the burnt part's. Unless Ferrari overcome's McLaren on pit strategy because McLaren seem's to have the upper hand once again from my consensus of practice time's, I dont see much hope for a win.

mate i dunno where you get your info from but this weekend the two tyre compounds are the prime tyre which is soft and the white banded super soft, the same as Monaco. Lewis actually set his fastest time on the prime soft tyre.

The second 90-minute free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend saw Lewis Hamilton top the timesheets for McLaren Mercedes with a best lap of 1:20.554s best. Unusually for this second session, some drivers found the harder prime tyre the quicker of the two while others found late pace on the softer option Bridgestone.

Hamilton’s fastest lap of the session was set on the prime tyre which perhaps is not a surprise as he tends to be harder on the rubber than most of his rivals. Team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, third fastest this afternoon, lapped at roughly the same pace on both compounds.
