From F1 Live:

In the wake of the umpalumpa scandal, Max Mosley has reinforced his intention to step down as FIA President at the end of his current term.

The 68-year-old Briton won the right to continue in the role at the FIA confidence vote in June, but he has always said he will nonetheless not stay beyond October of next year.

On the eve of the vote, however, Bernie Ecclestone warned that if Mosley survived the scandal, "he will run again".

"I am 100 percent certain about that; no, one million per cent certain," the F1 Chief Executive said.

But speaking in Monaco on Tuesday, Mosley said his plans to go next year are still on track.

"I don't want to stand again in 2009 because I don't want to go to work every day," he said.

"I don't feel old but I feel that there is more to life," Mosley added.

In the wake of the umpalumpa scandal,

:D

But yes, Max clearly believes he is in the right. He has set his stall out, cutting costs, introducing F2, and making F1 more green.

I can't help that with him still in charge, the FIA are heading for direct conflict with FOTA and the CVC.

"The truth of the matter is this: that no grown-up person gives the slightest damn about what other people do in their umpalumpa lives. It's not even a subject for discussion," he told Autosport magazine.

"All these people who failed in Formula 1 - and Jackie Stewart fits into that category, although 40 years ago he was a brilliant driver - they sit on the outside offering advice, but no one seriously considers them.

"Winning the case was good because it stopped all the nonsense about Nazism - that's the thing that really mattered. Now, as far as doing the job is concerned, the Nazi thing will have no effect at all on me."

Mosley, who confirmed yesterday that he plans to stand down as FIA President in October next year, still believes the News of the World story was a set-up instigated by a third party.

"I think there is a strong probability that the News of the World did not just chance on it," he added.

"That is being investigated very carefully and in great detail at the moment, and sooner or later we will know exactly what happened."

i vote for Max and Sir Jackie to have a fist fight! my moneys on Jackie

It just goes to show what a sausageface Mosley is. Jackie Stewart a failure? :yikes: Besides, what's Mosley ever achieved. He gave up driving because he was not up to standard and then ran the March team, which was also useless.

And another season full of scandals. What next? Mosley believing Bourdais' glasses are x-ray vision glasses allowing him to spy on the other teams and then Mosley bans them and says to Bourdais "you should have gone to Specsavers!"??

My arse, I bet that salad tosser is going to run again! I dont believe a word MM says, and what a little girl to come out and claim Sir Jackie is a failure. MM is probably the only person to hate Sir Jackie...ever.

I totally agree with you I thing it was in 2004 where he said he was going to retire but he did'nt. Why can't he just leave the FIA.
