This bickering is why I said that. Both Brits and Americans think they're better than everyone else which is why they hate each other. Come on guys, grow up.

Nah, nobody hates each other. It's Bush/Cheney we all hate, Brits and Americans alike :wink:

The whole world hates Bush/Cheney. He gives us Americans a bad name, and I cant wait til his arse is out of office.

I would hapilly kick his arse out of the White House and also hapilly kick Gordon Brown's arse out of 10 Downing Street.

Ditto . . . brits don't wear fanny-packs!

What are you lost in the '80's or just ignorant?

Over sensitive at all? I was just messing around, although I did see an American wearing one only a few days ago . . . which is why it came into my mind! :hehe:

Exactly and it doesn't matter what country your from there are always embarrassing stereotypes lurking around! I live in Wales at the min and their are a family of actual inbreeds and a bloke got arrested for fornicating with a sheep only a few years ago . . . no bull! . . . or should that be ram? :hehe::rofl:

Oh he was mid to late 40's I'd say, from Orlando, called Scott.

Well my opinion, for what its worth is this. I think Brits and Americans expect to be similar in outlook because of the common language and its a shock then when the wavelength is very different. Often through humour, jokes, cynicism, sarcasm etc. Things arent always taken or understood as they are meant. On the flipside to that (Speaking from the Brit side) I think we expect more differences when we encounter other Europeans speaking different languages, but once the language barrier is overcome, actual find a similar viewpoint. Does that make any sense? Any Americans on here got views on that??

You go girl!!! :thumbup::wink:

Some of the dearest friend's I have made in life, and I will alway's remember them, are either from the UK or from somewhere in europe. The internet and a keyboard does not truelly translate or get across one's true meaning or feeling's.

We only argue here because we support different team's or ideal's, that imho does not take anything away from my respect, trust and friendship that I feel for my fellow friend's/member's of this forum or of this world!

I'm feeling a group hug so give me what ya got! :D

I never pay attention to how well one speaks in a certain language as long as I understand him. See, Jarno and other drivers had to learn how to speak English and it is hard to think in other language. People often think in their native language and translate on the fly when they speak, so often they sound very funny (like me :D). That's why we get those repeating phrases, 'cause people are used to using them, although I admit it sounds weird sometimes.

You're lucky English is becoming like an international language, so you don't need to learn others (though it's fun :thumbup:). Anybody seen Firefly? They had a vision that in the future there will be only one language, a mix of English and Chinese :rofl:

No, I'm afraid not. You still can't spell in the States.

On the contrary: the American language made an evolutionary step ahead in simplifying the spelling compared to the old-fashioned British English. Guess which 'English' is becoming more and more popular and is displacing the other? :wink::twisted:

It's still wrong. Cancer does not become popular/correct because it ravages somebody's body. :yes:

I think it's a good thing to simplify the spelling. Just take the word 'through' compared to 'thru' - way more unnecessary letters, that's like cheating in scrabble. :D
