Well, Piquet certainly gained a lot more respect from me today.

I did not watch the race but I am very happy with his result's regardless of how they were achieved. Piquet stepped up a few rung's on the preverbial latter 2 week's ago when he overtook his 2 time WDC teammate but I was scolded for my opinion, go figure?

To be fair, it was a lottery at Silverstone, and sure, he vastly benefited from the SC today, but having a Ferrari chasing you down can't be very relaxing - he withstood the pressure well and even pulled away from Massa.

Massa had brake issues though, and the car couldnt match the pace of the Renault.

This might just be a big confidence boost for Piquet, if he can perform from here on in and get into Q3 when Alonso does, then he just might find he keeps his drive for next season.

Better still, if he can make it into Q3 when Alonso doesn't... ;)

are any of these rookies world championship material?

can you see in these drivers what we saw in 2001 with fernando alonso and kimi raikonnen?

japanese drivers have always had a history of getting bored early in their career after showing signs of greatness.

hell! even i was fooled into believing the tiger takagi would be a winner back in the late 90's

Current Points:

K. Nakajima 8
S. Vettel 5
T. Glock 5
S. Bourdais 2
N. Piquet 2

At the halfway point of the season they all still have a shot.

At what? Beating Fisi? :P:D

If you thought I was referring to the Championship, uh no, just Rookie of the Year. In that case, none have a shot. but they are beating out some veterans like Jenson Button???

It changes:

N. Piquet 10
K. Nakajima 8
S. Vettel 6
T. Glock 5
S. Bourdais 2

Second place finish vaults Piquet from the bottom to the Top. For a guy who was struggling for his job, he really came through.

This weekend Nakajima might be back on top of the rookie pile.

Whilst Piquet might be winning points-wise, I still think that Nakajima is doing a better job overall. He has a slower car, but has been much more consistent and shown speed when Rosberg has looked terribly slow.

And knocking off his front wings. You get the sense Rosberg would love the bumper-to-bumper action in the BTCC. :D
