I disagree. They would need a fast enough driver to score consistent points and podium finishes. If they had hired, for example, Sakon Yamamoto, they would have no chance of winning the WCC and would have quite a hefty repair bill.

If they wanted a hefty repair bill, they could have gone one step further with Yuji Ide.

And then Mad Max would try and get McLaren kicked out of F1 for using a dangerous driver...
