Senna was brilliant and he would have certainly won more championships if that tragic accident never happened. Schumi was superbly focused and a brilliant driver but I just feel in the same car as Senna he would lose

I have been a Schumacher fan since I started watching the sport back in 1996'ish.

I think Michael's results speak for themselves, the greatest man to have stepped into a Formula One car according to statistics.

Michael produced those great laps and races when he needed to, Hungary 98 is a good example, or Spain 96.

I feel Michael has that passion that very few people in F1 seem to have nowadays. I look at Michael on the podium or as he crosses the line, he never wants to stop winning.

Michael had "untouchable" number one staus because he was that good, he helped to build Ferrari to what it is today.

The Senna vs Schumacher debate is always an interesting one, I think though that Michael in his prime was a machine. He really was untouchable and I think Senna would have given him a battle but I feel Michael was better in his prime.

I just dream of being able to get to F1 and emulate Michael's stats, but of course, that is a dream.

He has had the most world championships, he is not the greatest nor my favourite.

Of course you say that and it's because you are biased toward's McLaren. We all have driver's who have astounded us but in my 25+yr's of watching F1 Senna and Schumi are the best. Now Alain Prost 'The Professor' was amazing but he was not a 'ball's to the wall' driver such as Senna and Schumi were.

What most people seem to misunderstand, because of their team biased outlook, is that there is and has been greatness all around us. When Senna won the '85 GP of Portugal I was out of my seat cheering and yelling although MY team Ferrari sucked but the best driver won that day.

That is why I alway's support a dominant performance from another team/driver over just 'my team did not win'.

Hungary 1998 was perhaps the best race without tonnes of passing occuring. Watching Schumacher put in near-qualifying pace on his 4-stop strategy to jump the McLarens was quite exciting to watch, any faster and that Ferrari might have flown off the circuit.

I don't think they really sucked in 1985, Alboreto came close to winning the Championship, and on that day at Portugal finished 2nd. :)

Suzuka 2000 was similar to Hungary, I couldn't watch when Michael was exiting the pitlane.. I was just waiting on seeing Mika appear at the top of the screen, Michael put in some sensational laptimes :D

I have never been a fan of Michael Schumacher, but he is without doubt one of the legends of F1 and will be spoken about for a very long time.

I remember watching F1 when he was dominating and winning almost every race, and people kept saying to me "Why do you watch that rubbish? You know who's going to win before the race starts, it's boring!" to which I would always say that I enjoy watching the performances of one of the greatest drivers of all time and in the future will be able to talk about watching the 'Schumacher era' in the way that I talk about the Senna/Mansell/Prost days, and how people talk about seeing Fangio, Moss, Stewart and Clarke.

So no, I didn't like Schumacher but I certainly respect what he's achieved, and playing a major part in the turnaround of Ferrari was one of those things. I think that the old adage of Ferrari being everyone's second team was true until Schumacher got behind the wheel of the red car, when bitterness towards their domination soured the dream that many of us had during the 80's and early 90's of seeing Ferrari back at the top. At that time it was where everyone seemed to think Ferrari should be - funny how things change....

Totally agree with that. Races like Hungary in 1998 demonstrated what his main skill is, and that, for me, was the ability to consider every factor in depth rather than sheer speed - in this example using a clever pit strategy to demolish the opposition.

If it wasn't for moments like Australia '94, Jerez '97, Monaco '06 and so on, i might have actually liked the guy. But he was just a bit of a scumbag really, i don't see how anyone can really deny that.

Schumacher was certainly a savvy racer, knowing when to nail it and when to hold what he has got, and when to look after his tyres etc., but a lot of his pit strategies were devised by Ross Brawn, who also a legend.

Anyone seen Pulp Fiction? Ross Brawn is like 'The Wolf' imo... :hehe:

Sorry i have to disagree with those comments. 1994 was a racing incident , 2006 was an error that the fia thought was cheating.

although i admit that 1997 was desperate.

I think you're the desperate one, clutching at straws in order to down play the level of Schumacher's misdeeds.

i'll take it from people who don't claim that mclaren won the championship in 2007. that was more cheating than anything that schumacher ever did.
