How long do you have to travel to get the track :P?
The time I get there i'll be wanting to get to my bed...
Up bright and early for Friday.

After a while I may wet my whistle and let things drop.

I think it would be easier if we stuck to the Silverstone meet up topic that's currently running. :)

Hi , this is my first GP too, apparently we have parking in the park and ride at Towcester Racecourse. We are coming from essex, which should normally take around 2 hours, does anybody have any advice on when we should leave ? . Whats the timetable, obviously i know when the F1 race is on but when do the support races happen ?. We have seats in Copse A so no need to worry about getting a view point, just dont want to be stuck in traffic !

I did once attend the quallys, as had a friend of a friend who worked for bernie, i got to park inside the circuit (centre next to the team lorries etc ) . I remember queuing for a good couple of hours to get in tho and that was a Saturday !.

Also had an idea about coming up on the A5, Is that a good idea, or am i better off sticking with the M1 ?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

*Please note this is only provisional at the time of going to press.

Also deanoandrew, I'd stick to the M1 mate, they usually close off the roads that link with the A43, however I'm not certain about the A5.
AS for when to leave, it's up to when you want to enter.

Gates are at 5 so a early morning drive?

We are coming from essex, which should normally take around 2 hours, does anybody have any advice on when we should leave ?

I attended testing on the Thursday last week and travelled from the Chelmsford area direct to the circuit - I left at 6 and arrived shortly before 10! The M1 was an issue, I got stuck in traffic along the M10 between the A414 and M1 itself. The M1 has average speed cameras from the first junction at St Albans, right up beyond Luton airport (50mph). This was a work day though, but if I were going I'd leave early, and still expect to park up 3 hours later. I returned along the A414 and then A12 to avoid the M25 - but if you leave early, neither road should be an issue.

Also had an idea about coming up on the A5, Is that a good idea, or am i better off sticking with the M1 ?

I doubt you're the only one with that idea - and when the A5 jams up, it really jams up. Good luck, and enjoy it - the roadtrip is as much as part of the day as watching the racing (and please post your pictures of the event here when you get a chance ;) ).
