This is the sort of stuff that is usually kept top secret by governments. Obviusly this one isn't but I would say similar secret experiments of this type have been done before so I am guessing it is already known that no danger exists. Or maybe they might open a portal/wormhole/rift to another dimesion who knows. Imagine that in that domension that something better than F1 exists and something greater than Earth's Ferrari is out there. Now that would be fasinating indeed. :)

Ah, the old conspiracy mind set :hehe:
CERN is the largest particle collider in the world - do you have any idea how much money went into it? How many nations are collaborating on this massive undertaking? How much brain power it took? There's no chance a single country could even begin to think in those dimensions on its own AND keep it a secret.

Really. So America's "Stargate" project and no not Stargate SG1 sci fi stuff, i mean a secret project American military used to use the mind to be able to travel vast distances and in different times using Scientific Remote Viewing (SRV). Oh yes SRV is real, it is very real. The US claims "Stargate" was a failure after information eventually came out, but I highly doubt it given that SRV actually works and there was a time where the US and the Soviets were using SRV to engage in physic wars. And if you are reading this and think I am full of s*** thats ok as well but you could just google Scientific Remote Viewing and find out for yourself. And one last thing. Remember that bomber who blew up half a building back in around 1993 somewhere in America. I cannot remember the name of the place but it was shown all over the world. They eventually caught the guy and executed him. Guess how they caught him? :-) That is right, using SRV. So consipracy moja pička! Governments are always up to some secret tricky business and no one spends billions for anything unless there is some military benefit out of it. I am sure there is other s*** going on.

Youre talking about Timothy McVeigh i thnk his name was, I do believe in a few conspiracies with the US and mostly in regards to UFO's n such but why dont they use the SRV to get Bin laden then?

Timothy McVeigh was found and convicted because his brother ratted him out.

So that is what they want you to believe.

<EDITED FOR CONTENT> minds will remain <EDITED FOR CONTENT> I guess. I've moved on to the more advanced group a long time ago. 8)

I've had that blackholes can grow, what if it started to grow and they have no way of stopping it? its a bad idea!

Good point. Maybe my physics isn't sophisticated enough for this topic...but anyway...

I always thought that black holes were pieces of space where the gravitational force was so large that nothing can escape once you get past the event horizon (excepting Hawking radiation, but I guess that's because it's because the particles are on the event horizon itself, rather than past it?). If this CERN project does produce micro black holes, what's the difference between a micro black hole and larger ones, that make them any less dangerous? And how come the micro black hole won't eat the Earth?

I'm actually not really concerned so I won't be taking out a huge loan, just curious ;)

Your physics is better than mine :S Can you repeat that... slowly?
#52959
The event horizon is the point of no return. After this point there is no escape from being sucked in!

Hawking radiation is what causes a black-hole to collapse. This is because a black hole can emit more mass of hawking radiation than other mass it can suck in. So in essence the black-hole evaporates! However as Hawking radiation exists only in theory, it may not exist in reality.

The point is however, that the black-holes created in a particle accelerator are so small that they virtually instantly collapse!

But how do they know this will happen? Is there a critical mass point where a black hole is likely to remain rather than disappear? There are obviously particles floating around in the collider so how can they guarantee that there isn't enough mass nearby when the black hole is created to ensure that it really does disappear rather than stay?

The matter they inject and accelerate (and that is available) is extremely small otherwise they wouldn't have enough energy to get those particles up to the speed necessary.

Would it be too much to ask to get all this 'new fangled heebee jeebee' in southern, aka HICK, term's? Hell when I lost my cat I was told 'She has extended herself into a new enlightenment awaiting the mothership of a new awakening'!!

Can someone please tell me what the hell that mean's and where is my Kitty Kitty????

Here's your Kitty or is it?
