I do remember reading that Senna was a great supporter of Andretti.

Indeed, in the "Life of Senna" autobiography I read last year, Senna would come to Andretti's defence all the time in 1993.

poor Michael. I really liked him in CART, and you would think that he would do well in F1 with all those wins he had under his belt. Same story for Alex Zanardi, he was a god in CART, but ok in F1. You should watch some of his CART races like the 1998 Long Beach GP, that was a great race.

:yikes:
Why doesn't MArco get a clue from his friends on the field of racing and get some "clean racing air." It seems that MArco is trying to live his Dad"s dreams and carrying way tooo much around with him. How can he race with all of this baggage?
He is just a kid.
His Dad really should do a beter job in his private personal life and not include this in MArco's space. MArco will have his own success and his own failures, just like everyone else. This is a poor reflection on Michael but give the kid a break.

Also Senna killed himself and it looks like Marco is trying to emulate his style on the race track. Very poor judgment all the way around.
Marco is more than a race horse and perhaps needs to have other trainers-MIchael acts quite smug these days, he is not racing, just shagging!
Aren't there any qualified trainers across the pond?

I dont believe any team would mess with the electronics of the car mid corner, thats just stupid. Andretti should have gotten more support at Mclaren i dont think anyone can deny that but i dont belive any team would hire a driver and then go and sabotauge him that part of it is the stupidist thing i have ever heard

What happened exactly.?

Commenting on Senna's death like that when you have no idea what happend is in very bad taste, there were a few factors that lead to the car going straight into a wall.
Go learn how to use google

Please do alittle research which is easily accessible via the internet for a more detailed explanation but I will give you the short-end. Senna had a mechanical failure which the exact cause is still up to debate as there are several theory's.

One thing you should and need to realize is that Senna was one of the greatest drivers to ever drive a F1 car and is a hero amongst those who actually witnessed his brilliance. You may be new to F1 and we dont hold that against you and welcome you to our forum but please think first before you post it will help alot. :wink:8)

A lot of what you have said in this thread so far has been rubbish, but you should be banned for the above remark.

Andretti was well supported at McLaren. There's only so much McLaren can do. If you're a poor driver, you're a poor driver no matter what a team's management, designers, engineers and mechanics do for you. I was reading an interesting book today in which a series of comments from Alain Prost in 1998 about McLaren were recorded. Basically, he said that McLaren was the team that supported him most throughout his career, despite what happened in 1989, and that the team is run like a family; he described the myth of McLaren being a cold environment as a myth. Andretti was a disaster from start to finish in 1993, McLaren did all they could for him (borrowing giving him the superior engine, of which they had only one per race at the the time), and the team had no hidden agenda.

If we started banning member's for their stupid or misinformed comment's the forum would not be what it is today which is one of the best and least moderated. There is alot of praise that goes around for the method of moderation on this forum so why fix something that is not broken?

I wholeheartedly understand your point and frustratrion Chris.

Didnt McLaren also have the under performing Ford engine that year?

There was a documentory about the inquest of Aytons tragic crash shown by the bbc a few years ago, and they pinpointed the most likely cause of the accident.
The year before was the first year in which regulations had been written for the safety car, so it was more used, but in 94 the electronics were banned from the suspension, meaning the cars ride height could not be controlled.
After I think 6 laps the cars were released, but the tyres diameter had decreased due to lower temperature, and consequently, Aryton understeered off as a result of grounding out.
His steering column had been rewelded, but telemetry showed that he had both steered and broken, both ineffectual as the wheels were not applying any pressure to the floor.
It trully was a great loss to F1.

I remember watching the '92 indy 500 on ESPN Classics, and they showed Ron Dennis there because he was watching Andretti. Why would McLaren put the time and effort into watching Andretti's races only to sabotage his career? Frankly, Marco's comments are just stupid and he is making himself look like Daddy's boy.

I think your right as other than Mario, although I have seen some whining from him, it is NOTHING compared to his son Michael and it is sad to say now his grandson! :banghead::cry:

Screw them F1 does not need and most likely do not want them. I had hopes for Marco having a shot at F1 but that was BEFORE he made those first stupid comments.
