I am on a racetrack on average anywhere between 10 and 20 times a year. I've raced boats, sportbikes, motorcross, offroad trucks and now cars. Never have I seen it legal to pass someone, not make the corner because you chose to outbrake yourself and him at the same time and still retain the position. It is wholesale ignorance to say Hamilton should have retained that spot. Yes, he was physically past the man when he went off the track, but then again he went off track BECAUSE he got by him. That is not a legal pass, not in F1, not in kiddie go karts, not in any racing on this globe. Anyone whining about it is obviously a member of the Hamilton is cute fanclub...and not a race fan. Get over it...he made a mistake (yet...AGAIN) and it cost him. He is young, he is inexperienced, he is full of himself and he had to pay a penalty. Little bit more 'pressure' when you aren't running in the front all by yourself...eh Hammy? Wonder if this one was the teams fault too...I'll bet they didn't get on the radio and tell him there was a corner coming up....

I agree, BTW I love your avatar. Screw Bush!!

Anyone ever find out what happened to Piquet when Heikki passed him on the pit road? Or was he just not paying attention.

I dno, something makes me think Renault have issues with engine maps and wts not.

You're right, Hammy's going off the deep end. He's getting worse. No one can deny there's an increase of mistakes on and off the track. He's spiralling uncontrollably into a chasm of insanity from which there is no escape. What was RD thinking putting 2 inexperienced drivers in the cars and expecting success? Keeping Alonso would have been a lot better for the team, whether or not his teammate would be Hammy or Kovi.

He should have some counseling. Such reckless drive with no respect for other drivers I haven't seen in time. If ever. Kid was loose canon. I know it is hard when one gets delusional and convince himself he is that good he can actually win starting from 13 in poor performing car, but hey, there are people trained to deal with that kind of problem.

If I were Lewis, I'd retire dad (he deserves some long winding down anyway after all, maybe play some golf and drive in one of those slow golf cars instead of sport supercars :hehe: ) and hire realistic, down-to-earth management. Honestly. It would help Lewis in a long run...

Rubbish talk :rpg:

Not the Dad part.

Having seen a reply of Hamilton's overtaking maneuver on Vettel, I'm convinced that McLaren and Hamilton were both correct. Hamilton was clearly past Vettel before he went off the track. He may have gained some extra speed, but the overtaking maneuver had already been made, and had Hamilton braked/lifted off the throttle to stop himself going off the track, he could have forced Vettel wide and retained his place, for Hamilton would've had sufficient speed and Vettel would have been sufficiently far behind.

Lewis did not deserve that penalty in my opinion, he had clearly passed Vettel

You right Hannah he was well past Vettel but his car was the wrong colour. Hekki did well. i didnt realise he was so heavy in quali. It accounts for him being further back and still he got 4th. Shame they put another penalty on McLaren (think they were going for a record this weekend-oh no... they got the record last year  ) He'd EASY have been 3rd without that maybe got kimi. Kimi ,who had he not been in a red car would have been blackflagged for hot bits hanging dangerously off his car. :nono:

I’m watching the race as I’m typing this*; there’s only few laps left to go. Kovaleinen is jostling for a podium finish with Trulli. I feel that if Heikki doesn’t get a finish other than a podium, then it’s not good enough. Oh – but only now do the Sky TV crew say that he had a penalty.

Oh my word! Heikki has balls! I just saw him go wheel to wheel with Trulli. Come on mate! You can do it! Oh you idiot! He went off the road! It’s cost him!

Let’s cut to Piquet v. Alonso. Piquet has overtaken Alonso! He’s 9th! That’s brilliant! I’m happy that Piquet has finally finished a race, but for him to get 9th is brilliant. I think he’s just about saved his career.

Massa has crossed the line and I’m not sure where Hamilton finished up, all that I can say is that the King of Good Luck finally has come across bad luck – s-loads of it. Oh what’s that Ferrari Lambs? It’s not luck anymore is it? So whenever he drives good it’s luck, but whenever he drives crap it’s actually Hamilton driving?

To be honest, I didn’t want Hamilton to finish in the points. He deserves all the punishment that he can get. But I do have a bone to pick with Raikkonen:

Why didn’t the Stewards send him into pits because of that flailing exhaust pipe? I’ve just seen a very lenient attitude from the stewards towards the Ferrari team, and yet the two McLarens had penalties. I did, however, want Raikkonen to win it, but when I saw that flapping piece of machinery I thought, “Damn, I hope Trulli doesn’t overtake him now.” Surely, if that piece came off his car with another driver overtaking him, the other driver could have a serious injury. When I saw it fly off in the direction of the crowd, I got worried. Stupid disregard of human life from Ferrari. It’s dangerous to the other drivers, the crowd, the stewards, and even Raikkonen himself. And I just can’t believe the inconsistencies from the race stewards! “Max Mosely” is on the tip of my tongue, but I don’t think it’s his fault, I think that it’s just a more positive stance with Ferrari, who needed the points.

Massa just said that Ferrari had a bit of luck, while he was talking about a slightly different reason, I agree with him. Ferrari had a slight bit of luck. At the expense of Heikki, who could have come 3rd.

Going into Silverstone, McLaren had better start improving. It’s okay for one driver to keep finishing in a positive position, but we need to see both of them finishing consistently in the top four. I wish for adversity upon Ferrari. And shame to them about the disregard to human life.

I mean what were they…… [Cut short because writer believed to be going crazy.]

*I’m typing this up now, and I’m going to post it when I go into work tomorrow morning.

Besides all that drivel from you, you also misrepresented what Massa said (typical LH groupie). Massa didn't say Ferrari had a bit of luck. He said WE, meaning him and his crew vs. KR and his crew.
