Actually, McLaren Fan, I consider Piquet's performance today to be a significant improvement. If he keeps focussed in the race tomorrow, he'll have a top ten finish and possibly some points if he's lucky.

The SPEED TV commentators mentioned that Renault has said Piquet has 2-3 more races to step up his game or else !

Maybe Ross Brawn has read my posts and put 95% of their time and resources into the 2009 car...

Or maybe Jenson and Rubens got together and sent Mr. Fry a nice little message from last week's comments

Bet he'd have had one of them at the first cornes if he'd stayed 3rd. Got a job on his hands from 13th! I wouldnt count him out completely though, yes he could stuff up trying but he could do one of his magic drives

if he stayed 3rd and with the LIGHT load he's probably running... maybe. But probably only because Kimi would repay Massa that Monaco start

Ohh I'm dying to comment on Luis' "magic drives" when he starts from behind... but its bad enough for you guys with him starting 13 and Heikki 5, that i'll cut you some slack instead i'll lend a... healing hand

Looks like BMW and Williams are off pace this weekend . It will be an interesting thing to see if Alonso manages to stand on the podium or will Heikki do it. Maybe Jarno can get into that fight , but I don't think Kubica can . I wonder if Hamilton can get in front of Kubi tomorrow, hope not Anyway, it may be an interesting race , or more interesting .

I believe you are correct as that scenario was also mentioned by the SPEED TV commentators. God I hope their '09 package brings them the result's I think their drivers deserve.

What happened to Williams? For me, with the possible exception of BMW's woes, was the biggest talking point of the qualifying session, but James Allen and Brundle completely failed to pick up on it, and, afterwards, Jim Ryder and Mark Blundell were having another Hamilton love-in.

Nakajima had traffic on his final run in Q1, Rosberg's set-up for qualifying was very much compromised so he can have a good chance in the race tomorrow because he was expecting to start dead last anyway. The "official" team comments seem to speak differently, but apparently Nico told an RTL interviewer afterwards that the car, and its updates were working fine and the car has had race setup all weekend and doesn't make his P15 look bad afterall. To be honest, that's left me a little confused...

Thanks for that. I expected that Rosberg's position would be down to his strategy, but was mythed as to what happened to Nakajima. The Williams looked impressive going round the circuit. It looks really bolted to the track and its direction change capabilities around the Nurburgring chicane looked good.

As a side note, McLaren look to have seriously improved their traction issues over the last two Grand Prix as well.

I said he MAY do one of his magic drives, he MAY stuff up trying. why do you only comment on part of that statement? But one things for certain, he won't give up. And he may be no lighter than the Ferrari's.
I agree with you about Heiki's performance-disapointing! I never expected him to be on Lewis's pace but I did rate him and think he'd be closer, able to step up and take the fight to Ferrari when Lewis couldn't, but he doesn't appear to able to. Where are all the folk that were trying to tell me he's as good or better than Lewis when the season started??

Kovalainen just got a five places penalty for blocking Webber in quali (linky). McLaren guys are looking to have a terrible weekend. I wonder if that will change their strategy for Lewis somehow.

You're talking about a seasoned, two-time world champion and a rookie. Not everyone can do what Lewis did last year, you know? Alonso has been punching above his weight in the Renault.

That's harsh. When I saw that incident, Kovalainen was trying to move out of the way but Nakajima prevented him from doing so. Also, Rosberg has the penalty for the same reasons as Hamilton does.

piquet has raced here before, he should have made q3, he is in a good position howeveer, in p10 and able to choose his fuel
