AND TO ANSWER MY OWN QUESTION:

Why is it everytime I check Autosport weather it claims its gonna rain on race day? Probs end up fine on Sunday :banghead:

Now that's weird, earlier this week they were saying it was going to be hot and sunny, but last year they said it was going to rain and it never did. I really hope it does rain though, it will make the race more exciting because Magny Cours is another track that hardly ever fails to bore like Catalunya.

Apart from the top 3 and maybe Toro Rosso it's hard to take anything out of today's practice as Toyota, Williams and Red Bull have been out of the top 10, Red Bull especially struggling today which they did last year too.

Is it just me that think's the only reason BMW is behind Ferrari and McLaren is their aerodynamics? Their package seems to be all about downforce and not speed?

After Montreal and Monaco I think the BMW little gap is because of engine related top end speed... this compromises their aero (which is also not as good as Ferrari) set up for faster turns circuits. They were solid in Montreal (where d/f is low) and in Monaco (where the slower speeds gets less d/f from the package and the performance is not so dependent on the engine). Of course, both races were kinda chaotic so kinda hard to judge... But still they were pretty solid in both, not so in Turkey, Barcelona and even Sepang although the final results don't really reflect...

Anyway.. Ferrari is looking strong and hopefully Fernando can split the BMWs

Renualt will be strong here (well FA will be anyways) does anyone know if this track gets a lot of use during the year? if not the surface might still be slippery during the race

Lewis has to take risks, he's got little to loose so he has to go risky strategy and risky moves :skidmarks: . Heiki needs to step up and try for a good result, its his chance to show what he can do and he needs to take points of the other title contenders. :driving: That purely a view from the Hamilton/McLaren point of view of course

I totally agree with your outlook.

Yeah pretty much Racechick is saying the most logical thing. Lewis is probably looking for a limit. It seems pretty much obvious by now that the tough part of setting up the MP23 is the high speed sweepers... and they already said they are going aggressive this weekend, so they are probably trying to find that limit there... hopefully its a good race. Now how about Massa eh?:D

I am looking forward to the fight between Alonso and Heidfeld (if Alonso Qs higher than NH). Hopefully Heidfeld doesn't hold much grudge from Loews :fishslap:

Rosberg appears to be going for an extremely aggressive strategy, all of his runs today were done on full tanks suggesting he will do just that for the race and also he has set up his car so he can overtake FI's/Toro Rosso's/Honda's with ease without losing too much time on the Red Bull's/Toyota's/Piquet/his own teammate. He has been downplaying his chances of points since he got the penalty, but it sounds like a good strategy, and he could easily gain about 4 places by the first corner thanks to the FW30 being so good off the line.

They had one hell of a scrap last year, resulting in Alonso pass - one of the best of the season .

James Allen says:

"It’s very hot here, but the forecast is for thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday, which will make things exciting.

I imagine that Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will welcome the chaos that could bring, as they bid to fight their way through the field after their 10-place grid penalties.
I’ll come on to Hamilton’s options in a moment, but in general it looks once again as though it is very close between McLaren and Ferrari and close across the entire field."

In James we Trust :D Rain would be good.
